Using a £10 Maisto XJ220 in BRG I am creating a 1993 Jaguar XJ220S by TWR. I'll post some photos along the way, and questions if necessary as I'm still learning! It is going to be based on this one, and painted Yellow, but minus those horrid wheels. Still deciding whether it should be Matte or not yet. I'm also doing a full interior redo with carpets, new seats, etc.

The XJ220S was a limited run of 6 cars built by TWR between 1993 and 1994. Exterior modifications include a carbon fibre front splitter, new air scoops in the front bumper and new headlights. Rear modifications are minimal, only incorporating a raised rear wing. The V6 engine was reworked and produces 685bhp. The whole body apart from the doors was reworked in Carbon Fibre to save weight. More photos can be found here and here!

Just starting of custom building with something interesting
As far as I know this will be the world's first XJ220S in 1:18!
[EDIT: Second!]

First updates on Saturday!

Time for an update. I'm off to get Paint, a Dremel and some putty today. meanwhile been working on the interior, sourced some new seats and built harnesses for them last night, just need to paint and put them together then they will be done.

Also, image uploader isn't working. So as far as I know, I can't post pictures.

So far, so good! A little flocking is all it takes sometimes to make a budget model stand up well next to an AUTOart or Kyosho diecast. I have never tried this with any of my diecasts, but now that I plan to get more Norev Porsches, I will have to try to use some flocking on my diecasts.

I'm also trying to figure out a way to simulate Alcantara. I don't want to use flocking because it would be too similar to the floor in my opinion. On cars like the Gallardo Superleggera and R8 GT where Alcantara is literally all over the interior, I think it would be neat if I could find a way to simulate the appearance of the 1:1s.

A friend of mine told me he uses pigment to make his alcantara panels on 1/18 modelcars, it is much finer than flocking. I have not seen or even try for now, but I've got everything in order to try it now, as I've bought glue in spray can, this morning, and already got some black pigment in my garage ...
