"My" first F1 Car

As SM Jr (my son) like Ferraris, I thought it'd be nice to get him a Hotwheels 1:18 F1 car for his "Ferrari shelf" in his display case. The details and quality of the car looks....how do I put it nicely?......like Hotwheels quality :giggle. But for the money, it is fitting for a 10 year old.

I bit the bullet and scooped a Barrichello car driven by yesterday. (There were no Schumi models left.) As the store is having a moving sale, I got 40%. There were a few really nice Minichamps models but I'm nowhere near ready to buy him those! I'll be giving the car to him once he finishes his schoolyear in a couple weeks.

Pics to follow after SM Jr gets his present. :giggle

That's a very nice diecast shelf. :nicejob :cheers

I'd give anything to have a toy shelf like that when I was a youngster. :happy

The Hotwheel is an excellent toy for a younster in my opinion. They're affordable and fairly tough - you don't have to worry about brittle small bits & pieces coming off while playing/handling them. :cheers

I wish my collection looked like that when I was 10 yrs old! :cool1

I didn't think the Hot Wheels Ferrari F1's were bad, they're not the greatest but not much worse than Minichamps. I only have one and I quite like it. Congrats on the new addition, it'll grow on ya, you'll see... :happy :cheers
I like how you blame all these purchases on poor SM2 :giggle
I see your game now, "none of these are actually for me honey, they are for Jr." :lol :lol :lol

G3 and peearr: Like yourselves, I didn't have that much when I was that age. I think I had a few plastic models on display & that was about it. Oh yeah, here's the rest of the Billy display case with the other models. :giggle

Rat: As long as they don't grow on SM Jr too much, I'm okay. To describe those Hotwheels F1 cars as "bad" would be unfair. That said, I did have a bunch of Minichamps F1 cars immediately beside the Hot Wheels ones so it was tempting for me to be nit-picky about the Hot Wheels's shortcomings.

Congrats!!! Cant wait to see pics :cheers
:cheers Good point in getting the Barrichello version as he's cooler and more charismatic than cold machine Schumi :giggle
I think if he'd be as dominant as Schumi noone complained :eek:hmy

BTW what are you thinking, letting us wait for pics for a couple of WEEKS??!! :ranting :ranting :ranting

Their F1 cars (for the price) are quite nice. I want to get a Barrichello car too.
That's a very :cool1 set-up SMJr. has! Nice model you just added for him too Felix! :cheers :cheers

The photos come in a couple weeks because that's when I actually pass the car to my son after the schoolyear ends. Until then Bart, you'll just have to be a little patient. :giggle :giggle

CX and Kurt: Thanks. I couldn't pass up on that deal. :giggle

I don't really have much of a problem with the Hot Wheels F1 cars. I like the Minichamps cars as well, and since all I have are Ferraris, I can't compare a "new" Minichamps car to a new Hot Wheels. Especially since the MCs are all at least 6 years old, since the last ones were '98s.

Congrats on biting the bullet and getting that first F1 car. There are online places to get these cheaply every once in a while, too.
