Guys, I got this Autoart Honda S2000 that was preowned. There is this blob of glue right at the centre where the honda emblem is supposed to be. I need help in getting this thing off without damaging anything around so I can stick a new emblem there. And, yah, need a new emblem too. Rest of the model is okay. Need some polishing, Antenna is snapped but should be an easy fix (the part is lost though). Lot of dust inside out, which I could clean without much of a trouble. Don't know how to get the dust off that is inside the headlight lenses.

Hello, a common problem of old wigs with incorrect storage. About the dust. There are several ways to first disassemble the headlight and manually clean everything. The second one is simpler. Take compressed air and try to blow out the dust. Your second problem can be dealt with. Polishing. Glue the outline of the emblem with adhesive tape and starting from 3000 polish the skins, then polishing paste.

Thanks a lot guys. To begin with, I will give acetone free nail polish remover a try. Will let you know.
@StratosWRC, zoomonmodels is one fantastic site I didn't know about. Thanks a ton. Do they ship worldwide? I can't find any details about shipping, rates, returns etc on the site. Hows your experience with them? I need the thing in India.
@channabasanna Hey Channa, where can I get the photo etched emblems in our country? I need few more emblems for my other models too.

I used WD-40 to remove remains of stickers from two of my Corvette Mako Shark (I have two of the same model because I messed up one of the decals and a badge upon cleaning). It didn't damage the paint. It is important to be careful and don't touch plastic parts.

Ohh, unfortunately the residue is on plastic. So I guess WD-40 won't be of any use. But thanks for the tip. It sure will help on metal parts. BTW, is mako shark frpm Autoart? Damn good model:love:. And you have two!!!

only bought a few of the photoetch stickers and stuff. Shipping and prices in general are cheap. Haven't returned anything (I never return anything though so YMMV)

Although acetone-free NPR can do the job on metal painted surfaces, I don't think I'd use that if the part is made of plastic. I ruined a number of plastic parts on models just by simply polishing them, so any solvent is a no-go for me. Paint doesn't stick as well to plastic as it does to metal, so you risk melting whatever layer of paint straight into the plastic.

As @Imanishi pointed out, polishing off that dried glue might be your best solution. That is more or less what I did on a model whose driver side fender was smeared in CA glue, except that I skipped the masking and went straight for the 2500 grit polishing paste.

It's a very simple job. Go slow and take your time, trying to keep the polishing to the glue area only. Don't try to remove all of the glue, just flatten/even out enough of the blob, just so you can stick the replacement emblem over it.

Good luck!

Edit: Don't use WD-40 on model cars. That's nonsense coming from TV presenters/Youtubers. Soon there'll be people advising to use furniture polish on models. WD-40 is for rusty and stuck bolts, nuts, padlocks, etc.

The ones I have are from UT models. They are way cheaper and don't miss much in details when compared to AA. I had to buy another one because I couldn't find a badge and a decal for the trunk of the car, as you can compare by the photos.
