Trying to get more Porsches into my collection and near the top of the list was the 964 RS 3.8, one of my favorite 911s ever. I saw that Solido made it in Maritime Blue, as part of a two-pack with the 1973 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 in orange. And when the set was on sale for only about 50 Euros on CK, I was sold. These are my first Solidos.

They got here, and it turned out to honestly be one of the best $50 or so that I've ever spent on model cars. I've always considered the UT 993s to be the gold standard for budget models, especially the RS 3.8 is right there with them in so many ways. Very good exterior with hollow exhaust, separately molded door handles, convincing looking wheels and brakes, doors open without dogleg hinges to a very decent interior for a budget model. All of that also goes for the RSR 2.8, which I like in the bright orange a lot more than I thought I would.

Overall, two models that are outstanding for the money (~$25 each). Now I'm very encouraged to get the Turbo 3.6, and many more Solidos.

Nice colors on those. I have the yellow one and am generally pleased with it. I have several Solido's and think they're a good value for the most part. I only wish that they would be full-opening rather than just the doors opening.

What a lovely pair. Won't mind if Solido does more of such twin pack releases. I bought the exact same one last year.. and still on the fence with the blue Renault 5 and 8 Gordini set.

For me personally, the 964 RS is definitely the star. Both 964 RS and Turbo greatly reminds me of the UT models of old, especially the 993 series.
