I was asked for some photo's of the 917 1:18 Gulf from Norev.
First i want to say i didn't had a 917 GT in my collection and the autoart version is pretty expensive so when the news came out that norev had 2 models come out for a budget price i was eager to get one.
I must say i haven't regret the decision to get this car it just depend what you expect.
Yes the autoart maybe better because it has opening parts and if that is important in your opinnion i better can recommend the autoart, after all for 50 euros this is a budget model!

It's the 1970 Lemans well know from Steve's mcqueen Lemans movie and Porsche 917's that battled the ferarri's 312 all the way to get the win at the end.
In particular some lemans races are well known just like the nr:20 Gulf Porsche 917 with the drivers Jo Siffert & Brian Redman.
In real live this car didn't finnish the race after 156 laps better yet in the movie it was the nr:22 Gulf 917 that won the race after Steve crashed the nr:20 what a way to get famous

The model is based on the old UH 917 body mold so dont expect a high updated chassis.

There's not so much to see with on the engine because it is sealed.
The decals are tampo printed they look sharp and well applied.
So let's take a look what this model has to offer and make a judgement for yourself.

To add some info:
The front wheels can turn both ways however mind you they are fragile.
I hope that you got a clear view on the car and maybe eventually purchase.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks for posting. I have AUTOart's Martini 917K, but was always tempted to add at least one more...then prices really jumped on the ones I liked.

Even though it is sealed, this looks to display very well....I'll keep an eye on the other liveries, as I can see adding at least one.

Sweet shots. I like that Norev came out with this model. I really want to add the other livery and hope they release more 917s. Norev has done quite a few sealed Le Mans cars. I had one that felt more like toy. Maybe because of the sealed plastic body. They still look great on display.

I like your photos. They reminded me of my 917.

Do you have any shots inside the engine bay? Nice photos btw, thanks for posting. :)
Its a sealed model so engine on top is all you see for a open engine bay i would look for a autoart version.

That cant be surely, you can see from the gap between the two halves of the car and the fact that they dont line up perfectly that the back is a separate piece, why would Norev make it a separate piece if it wasnt designed to open. Maybe there are screws holding it closed or something? I cant believe they would do that it if wasnt meant to open. :S

I have checked and tried to seperate the backside of the car.
Yes it looks like the back is a seperate piece and i think that you are correct, however if you try unscrew the backside you gonna break something for sure so tight it is assembled.
So im not gonna take the risk as im happy with it in current form.

Hmmm ok, just curious is all! Im sure if you can remove it i will be able to find pictures somewhere! Thanks for the reply!
this "new" Norev uses the old UH/Jouef/Eagles Race mold from as far back as 1999...it is completely sealed. I believe I read that Norev will be releasing 12 different cars (UH released 15 over the years).

I just cant understand then why the engine section is a separate piece, surely they would have made the body out of just one piece?

How much are these going for at the moment?

not bad at all for that pricetag .... to bad they r fitted with raintyres ... and the rear spoile looks a bit wacky .... almost in the price range of the Autoart
for that small amount more , i would pick the A_A version .... time for a re-run maybe :D

thanks for sharing

Be wary though Sergio...can't see any pics on the net suggesting that there's more engine detail......

Sorry for hijacking. For those interested to know, here's how the "engine" looks like... There are two screws holding on to the front body. If you want the rear portion to be removed to show the "engine", Simply remove those screws (I reckon there is no need... :)). The overall shape and stance is still very nice. Won't/Can't complaint much since it is a budget level model.

I am desperately looking for the Autoart Porsche 917k Steve McQueen Le Mans movie model (Autoart model 80030) but I can't find it anywhere - even on eBay. I then came across this Norev model.

Can someone please tell me if this Norev model represents exactly 100% the same car as done by Autoart or are there any differences in terms of appearance? In other words, can I use this car as an identical substitute to the Autoart car. I don't care about features such as a visible engine or open doors, etc., as long as visually it is the same car.

Thank you.
