I rarely make reviews of a model ... unless it worth warning people before they get ripped off !!!

.... sadly, it always happen with a Greenlight model ... this time ... it's REALLY something amazing, but not in a good way!

And I'll try to stay as constructive as I can here .... and if Matt reads this (GL's rep) ... don't take it personally ...

I don't have anything against you .... but buyer really need to know the situation about this product !!

INTRO :

I'm doing this review here, because I surely would have loved to mentioned it to GL on the Greenlight's Facebook page ....

but I've been banned by them a long time ago .... as many of my collector friends has too ... for pointing out the obvious!

I know many DXers here ... and / or , former DXers that has been too ...

Even if you do constructive criticism ... give advice on upcoming model when you see obvious flaws ... point out the inaccuracies .... YOU WILL GET BANNED from their page!

As they only keep the people that praises their models .... kiss their butts .... and drink their Kool-Aid without saying a word .... they simply don't accept any kind of bad critics ...

Of course, they never want to admit that they are wrong ... and so if you point it out ... you get people to notice they are wrong, so you scared them to buy their crap, so they just block you from posting comments!

...but this time, for the Pussy Wagon, ITS REALLY JUSTIFIED!!!
... you will see what I mean ...

And please .... no need for the usual dumb reply : "hey if you don't like their models, just don't but them!"

So easy to say ... and again I feel like I'll have to explain for the gazillion time that they are basically (and very sadly) , quite the only diecast company that makes the only thing I collect , like many others ..... "TV & MOVIE CARS"

And I see myself as some kind of a car journalist .... they know that some brand of cars or crap .... like Fiat ..... but they still have to review them to tell the world about it ...

And buyers REALLY need to be warn about the situation!

So it's really a love/hate situation with Greenlight ..... all their new announcements in that category are so freaking interesting & exciting .... but each release is even more deceiving then the previous one

yet, it goes way beyond my hate for this company ..... this time .... it's a simple warning before you feel the same frustration as I do if you decide to buy one !

REVIEW :

TO BE QUITE HONEST .... I REALLY HAD HIGH HOPES for this one

I really wanted to put my frustrations toward GL and their models , aside .... because , that Pussy Wagon looks simply stunning!!!

And I was so happy and excited when I got the box, could not wait to open it .... and I did want to praise the model so much!!!!!!!

I gotta say that , to see the Pussy Wagon in the flesh .... simply put a B I G smile on your face, it's unavoidable!

So I got it ... opened the top foam clamshell to reveal the HUUUGE beautiful yellow beast .... and woooooooooah!!!!

I was FLABBERGASTED!!! .... turning the model on my work station, still sitting in the bottom half of the foam clamshell ... woooooah .... I love it ....

I could not believe that FOR THE FIRST TIME , I would finally thinking of
Greenlight !!! .... even if it was a sealed brick ... unthinkable !!!!

Yep!!!! .... unthinkable was the word ..... my surprising enthusiasm vanished right there!!!

When I've picked up the truck to free it from the bottom half of the foam clamshell ....
.... AND ONE OF THE REAR WHEEL FELL OFF .... WHILE A 2ND ONE ON THE FRONT ALMOST DID .... HANGING BY A THREAD, AT A 45° ANGLE!!

I've flipped the model over ..... to see what was the problem ...

Turns out that the circular inner wheel "peg" ... the round "hole" that the metal axle sticks in, that hold the wheel in place ... on one wheel, it was split in half ... and on the other one, it was broken in 3 parts !!!!!

Also ... I've noticed that the bed of the truck was not aligned at all with the cab

Tried to move it a bit to see if it would place itself back in place ... no results .... since I already had two of thee wheels off .... I decided to tear it apart to figure was was the problem ......

While locating the 6 screws that holds the very very lame undercarriage .... I've notices that the plastic piece that tries to badly replicate an undercarriage ... was cracked all around the 6 holes where the screws are

And the plastic where the 2 middle screws are .... those 2 that holds the inner end of the bed to the cab ... well it was simply broke apart so the bed could not be hold anymore at the bed/cab junction

So I really needed to disassemble the whole truck to try to see if I could repair ...

REMEMBER THAT IT WAS A TOTALLY BRAND NEW MODEL !!!

Incredible thought, having to do this to a brand new 80$ model ..... bought directly from my regular wholeseller , that just had them in stock 2 days before I've ordered mine

YES .... I did contact my wholeseller to let him know about it and if I could send it back for a replacement ..... here's his "pasted" answer :

Jeff
even if I want to replace your Pussy Wagon .... I can't
This is the first batch we got , we ordered 36 models
we opened the first one to put it on display at our store and to take pictures for the website

It had 3 broken wheels !!
So we opened another one .... broken wheels as well !
Another one ... same problem plus undercarriage was cracked in half, from front to rear !

So we decided to inspected them all
Out of the 36 we got , only 12 were good !!
The one you got, is one of those 12
And now you tell me that 2 wheels are broken plus the frame!!!
So it means that they continue to get destroyed with our overprotected shipping method we used especially for those 12 !!

I did contact 2 of my friend's diecast stores and sadly they have the same problem, 3/4 of their shipment cannot be sold!!!

So either you send it back and I refund you plus the shipping cost

or you keep it , try to repair it , and whatever discount Greenlight will offer per model, I'll credit you
And in the long run, it you do fix it but it doesn't hold up in a month or so , I'll refund you entirely"

I know everybody knows that I have a grudge aginst GL .... but seriously ...

Can you really tell me that I'm bashing Greenlight, just for the fun of it ???

I told my wholeseller that I still want that truck in my collection ... so that I would try to repair it ... if not I would ship it back to him ....

So I was facing :

- 2 cracked wheels
- small cracks in the undercarriage platform
- cracked in the areas surrounding the screws that holds the body to the chassis
- broken
chassis in the areas surrounding the 2 middle screws that holds the bed and the cab together

So after an inspection to see what went wrong .... after disassembled it ...

I've noticed that the reason why the plastic under the 2 middle screws had broke, was in fact a QC issue ....

at the factory, Greenlight did not take the time to assemble correctly the bed and the cab together ...

which was why the bed was all misaligned with the cab ... so the 2 screws were forced into the holes ... and plastic got broken !

And that the REASON why the plastic was all broken everywhere else ... was either ...

a) The body is too heavy for the plastic frame ...
b) the plastic frame is to thin ...
c) it's made of cheap quality plastic ...
d) plastic is too weak for the weight of the truck ...
e) all the those answers ...

Knowing Greenlight since they started their "high quality standard" Artisan collection ... always cutting on the quality to get a lower cost ... but to sell it back at a higher cost ...

I would go with: e) all the those answers!!

After seing that it would not be repairable , I call my seller back, and I've manage for him to ship me an undamaged chassis with 2 unbroken wheels from among the models he could not sell ...

To which he agreed to do, since I'm a 15+ years loyal buyer

So I got the parts the next day .... reassembled the truck .... then I've noticed something weird while taking the pictures .....

THE REAR OF THE TRUCK (BED) IS NARROWER , THEN THE MIDDLE SECTION ... BY 1/8 OF AN INCH !!!!

It's may be not much ..... but enough to clearly see the difference with the naked eye ....

check out the pictures ..... either if you look at it from under or from above!!!

I N C R E D I B L E !!!

People really need to stay away for that product .... it SURELY ain't worth the full price they are selling it ... not even on sale for half the price ...

Maisto still cost half the price for twice the details and full opening parts!

RESUME :

So that was the review .... it's a freaking beautiful piece ...... HUGE 14in long model ..... cannot avoid smiling when you look at it .... c'mon it's the Pussy Wagon !!!!

But it is so filled up with QCs .... that makes it a real problem ... people that bought them are furious all over the place on Facebook about this model ..... everybody had high hopes about it!!

Those who were planning to get it are changing their mind ...

It cost 80$ CAD here in Quebec .... it's filled up with huge problems ... and it's sealed!!!

People prefer to but 40$-50$ on a fully oping Maisto, Jada , etc model ...... then 80$ (and I quote from other collectors) : on this toyish looking chunk of a problematic sealed brick !!!

But don't searched for those people on Greenlight's page ... you won't find them there because as I've said it ... GL systematically erase all negative feedback and criticism from their page ... and ban those who post them!

Check ou t the REAL diecast collector's pages ... there are a ton of them on FB ...

NOW HERE'S THE PICTURES .......

First the pictures of the truck once disassembled ..... with the new parts in place ....

BTW ..... THE ONLY POSITIVE THING I can say about the Pussy Wagon ... is that, when you remove the bed as in the first couple pictures ....

It can make one Hell of a freaking hot custom Flatbed or Tow Truck !!!!!

Even my wholeseller, after seeing my pictures of it without the bed on the many diecast FB pages I've post it , talking about the suggestion for the customizations ....

He has decided to sell them half price for the customizers out there who wish to use them for that purpose ...

AND IT WORKED!!!! ... apparently, people were calling him to reserve the ones he could not returns!!!!

Ok ... pictures time now .....

Not much parts once all took apart ...

For those who would like to customize one ... and don't like the hood scoops ... they're not molded intop the hood ... but added ... so they can be remove if you want them off ...

Here, even with the bed in my hand, you can notice the the rear of the bed is narrower then the other end of it ....

Some pictures of the cab's interior .....

Some pictures while reassembling the truck ..... and that's when I saw the potentiel of custom Flatbed or Tow truck or else ....

Now once reassembled with the replacement parts .....

On the 2 following picture, you can clearly see the bed is narrower at the rear of the truck .....

NO .. it's not a photo trick or else ... if you haven't read the review completely ... now it's time you should go back and read about it!!

anyway, on ANY of the other pictures, you can see that something is off about the bed ....

as if the cab were made by one team ... and the bed by another team ... but they didn't share any infos before production !!

The removable bed cover is great ... but don't makes it for the rest .....

And a last couple of pictures for those who who like to see the size of it .... so I've parked it next the Hot Wheeels Elite Ecto-1

And for the hardcore "true to scale" collectors ... a couple of collectors already took the challenge and check to see if it was really 1/18 ....

because it seems it needs to be a little bit wider when you look at the front and rear pictures, next to the Ecto-1 .....

With the diecasts .... Ecto is about 1/2 inch longer then the Pussy Wagon .... but in reality .... the Chevy should be longer by about 1/2 in.

237.4 in. long for the truck

225.0 in. long for the Ecto

Same with the width ... Chevy should be about 1/2 in. wider

SO THERE YOU GO ..... Hope you've enjoyed this nearly 5hr-long-to-type review ....

I've tried to stay as constructive as I could .... hoping I won't get banned from DX for spoken the truth about it!

I'm so sorry Greenlight ..... I was really vouching for you guys on this one ... but again, you surely miss the slam dunk!

When are you guys, will finally start to realize that cutting deeper & deeper on the cost ... and go lower & lower on the quality , it has a stretching limit before it snaps right back in your face!!!

You cannot offer that bad level of quality to people and not expect backlash in return! That's not the way to do business!! ... not if you care about it and your customers, which clearly you don't !!

And it's a good thing that collectors finally starting to wake up and smell the problems I'm being talking about since day 1 with you guys !

We collectors, have told you guys ... FROM THE START ... that we would prefer to pay 100-110-120$ for BETTER quality models ... with great features ... opening parts .... etc ...

Then paying 80$ for a piece of unfinished, badly assembled, cheap quality, inaccurate piece of tr**h!!!

If AutoWorld can do it ... why can't you!!!

Just looks at their latest , magnificent *licensed* product release .... with full opening parts! .... that is Christine's Camaro & Chargers ..... they are selling at 100$ for God's sake !!

Those 2 are true gems!!!!

It's unbelievable that you guys still think that it cannot be done ... and that "sealed bricks" is the new future of diecast models ... and doing them for cheap level of quality like you just delivered, is the way to do it!

And judging by the amount of bad feedback we are seeing on Collectors pages ... and from the wholesellers .... I really wonder how much, your desire to go cheap, will cost you this time!

VERY MUCH I HOPE! Unbelievable!!!

You guys just don't care bout what customers wants ...

And I'm happy that it takes collectors like me and many other that buys your models, and tell the rest about it, and badly it is, so that they can avoid to make the mistake to burn 100$ to buy one!

Still .... I know that GL has an immense potential to make it .... buying the Highway 61 molds is probably the best thing EVER that GL has done in their history ....

But you are so good at screwing it all up ... that we are a lot that fears the worst about this good news ....

Knowing you guys ... I give you a 30/70 chances that you will deceive us all again .....

But BOY I hope you guys will prove me wrong on this one!!!!

The broken parts sucks but cant believe the difference between the front and back of the cab....seriously??

WOW! Sorry to rear that your joy was ruined on this one Jeff
It's sad that their QC on these things were bad or that the CAD was also bad as the bed is weirdly narrower towards the back
Thankfully, I only have minor complaints on the Camaros by them
That said, perhaps they rushed these models out without verifying if the construction could hold up to the weight of the body?
Whatever the issues were that caused this...hopefully, the GL people reading this could try to improve the QC overall, and stop banning their critics. Take care and Hopefully more Cheers on your next model Jeff!

Im surprised. This model looked more like a toy. That amount of parts...
Yep ...... bu-but .... according to GL ... those Artisan model ... comes to level with the best quality models on the market

Somehow, it has to be true!

And like I've said, I know that everybody here, knows I have a grudge toward GL ..... since the day they announced their Artisan line .....

But let me tell you another little story, about how GL just don't care about collectors ....

Everybody knows that the SPN Impala was and still is , my War Horse since they said it was going to be the very first model they decided to do in that sealed up line

Even though the fans were telling them that it was a very bad idea!! .... that at least , they should make the opening trunk

.... but they never care about what collectors are asking for .... here's a great example ....

I have a very close & personal friend, Rick Blevins ... he came on DX as Projectthx138 ... but he left here in 2014

Rick is a master builder of exact 1:1 replica of the screen used car ...... he is a very close friend with the creator of the real SPN Impala ... as I am too since my "Bobby Singer Chevelle Custom Saga"

That guy is Jeff Budnick who's the picture car co-ordinator for the show since 2005

I don't remember how, but somehow, my friend Rick got in relation with GL before they even start to make the mold for the Impala ....

He offers them his FREE help as a consultant .... to get the best detailed Imapla they could produce .... with full specs of the real screen used car ... provided by Jeff Budnick

They simply turned him down as they just didn't care about his knowledge , which was surely 2000 times better then GL's R&D team!!

He beg them, like all the fans did, to at least consider to make the working trunk ... GL just didn't listen!

Reason is ... Greenlight didn't want to put any extra dime into this project because they simply didn't believe in this model !!!

They were sure that it was going to do average ... or simply sink ...

They had the same line of thinking as the spat I had with Acisne about it years ago when he was trying to prove that SPN was a low rated show, view by only a few hundreds of thousands viewers ...etc ...

That "Baby" wasn't any Ecto-1 or Batmobile ...... as if you could compare a tv car of a series that is only playing in a few countries ... VS a movie car that became an icon , in movies that played worldwide in every movie theater!

They didn't believe in the fan base of the show ... or the car itself .... people that pays nearly 1000$ to fill up every SPN conventions every months .... across the US

Those same people that spends a fortune in those Cons to get official merchandising

..... all those fans across the world would pay 300$ for a High Quality Impala with full opening features ... because those same people pays 500$ to get a signed pictures of the cast!!!

A show that just has been renewed for a 13th season

Again GL just didn't listen the fans collectors because they didn't believe in this model ....

.... but BIG SURPRISE, as the fans expected ... and as Rick, Mitchell ans I has been tailing GL about , came true .... the model was a slam dunk! ... a huge hit!

Sold out everywhere!!!

In fact, it's such a big hit, that GL has released 7 versions that I can think of , I probably forget 1 or 2 ...

1) Kansas car version
2) Ohio car version
3)
Ohio car with Sam & Dean
4) Ohio car with Sam, Dean, Castiel & Crowley
5) Croatoan version with Sam & Dea
6) hrome edition
7) black chrome edition

All sold out!!!! .... and Matt did mention that if the model was doing well ... Greenlight would consider making a "deluxe" version with opening features ... yet ... ????

All those sold out versions surely qualifies as "doing well" ....

And now the cherry on the sundae ... what got us all pissed about ... is that they will be releasing the 1/25 version soon .... WITH THE OPENING TRUNK !!!!!!!

After all we did, trying to make them realize that this feature was important .... but didn't care about what we had to say ... they took our advice avoiding to make the same mistake twice !!!

but where is that deluxe 1/18 version ???

But when we are talking about QC issue, I think the SPN Impala is the worst Artisan model ... QC wise ....

Their Supernatural Impala is FILLED UP with QC mistakes!!! ... they're like a box of cracker jacks ... everyone gets a surprise error ... but you never know what's it's gonna be!

From many collectors friends on many collector FB pages ... those are all the mistakes I could gather ....

you either get one of those OR more on the same single model :

- a missing side trim ...

- a fell-off side trim or more then one ...

- crooked side trims ...

- broken spotlights ...

- missing spotlights ...

- broken door mirror ...

- missing door mirror ...

- "IMPALA" logos on the rear fenders ... (not suppose to have any)

- "IMPALA" logo on only one side (WTF?)

- unpainted bumper guards

- some painted bumper guard, some not

- wrong taillight because that has been mixed up with their Chicago Police Biscayne, which are half white/half red

If you contact them BUT ... it's never of their freaking fault ... somehow, it ends been always yours!

It was a true miracle that they decided to ship customers a chrome mirror to replace the golden one on the F&F Daytona ...

an error that shouldn't even happened in the first place if their team would have done their home works!

And that was just about the Impala ..... don't get me stated on the F&F Daytona & Escort .....

And people keeps wondering why I hate this company!!!!

My pleasure!

..... yes it does .... especially the undercarriage ... looks like ... and made as a cheap toy!

For those who's like to see the damages I had on ....

I did take a few picture of what it looked like when I got it and those of the broken wheels, after I've repaired them ....

Because of those pictures , my store was able to refund me half of it ... so it was as if I paid 40$ for it

I know you can still buy better looking Maisto, Bburago & Jada for that price with full opening parts ... but I'm glad I could have some money back!

AS FOR THE WHEELS ..... 2 OF THEM WERE BROKE or CRACKED or BOTH .....

There you go ...

It looks terrible. And the "amount" of parts is to cry for. Even Bburago models from 1985 look better, and have steering front wheels and opening hood/trunk/doors.

If this is the GreenLight standard, I am even more glad I recently splurged out on the Mad max Interceptor (from AutoArt) instead of waiting for the GL version which is due to come out in August....

Yeah .... NO WAY it will beat AutoArt's version, impossible when you see all their latest released from the last 2-3 years!

And to be honest, I smell something really fishy about GL's Mad Max since someone on the "2017 GreenLight catalog[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]" [/background]thread, asked the GL's rep :

"Hey Matt, Is GL really making [background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]a Mad Max version of the Falcon[/background]?"

.... and Matt (GL's rep) replied :

"[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]We are making a custom Ford Falcon. I'll leave it at that" [/background]

[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]That answer doesn't sound good at all! .... so I'll tell you the same as I tell everyone else : [/background]

[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]Don't get your hopes too high .... GL has an history of disapointing the movie/TV cars collectors since they start to make some .... [/background]

[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]

I wanted this model and when GL announced they would make it, I was very excited!!
then I saw pics of it and was a little disappointed: the front looked very "toyish"to me but still, I said "thats' the only model you'll see anyway and it's NEW, different from the traditionnal F&F or Starsky&Hutch, so why not?
But then I saw it behind the window of a local shop : looked cool and huge at first!!but the closer I got, the more obvious it became: It really looked as bad as It seemed on the net, and the seller confirmed he had to glue the front wheel back on the frame!!! ..exactly what you described...

So I won't buy this one (though I really wanted it)
Maybe I'll get a rusty version of the Dharma van (LOST)one day (or rust it myself!!!)
Sad that GL is the only diecast manufacturer making1:18 american "Movie/TV cars",, so yes I'm a bit worried about their future MadMax-or-not model, and the fact that they'll make models we don't really want instead of Jurassic icons (for example!) that they simply can't do because "licencing is difficult" -but they made a 1/64 lookalike clone Wrangler-or because "they don't know if it would be worth investing into 1:18 molds" -while thousands of collectors would buy a minimum of 2 or 3 of these !!!!-
Let's hope 2018 will be more satisfying..

After few years in collecting Im very sad what greenlight is doing bad and these are recurring mistakes.

Firstly they are not consistent in quality of new moulds, if they smell higher profit, many variants they did great job if not diecast is mediocre at its best.In Europe we pay a lot more that in States for greenlight, so this is very frustrating.

They are trying some ridiculous variants of models based mainly on few minutes on screen in some tv series, and Im aware that they are only shelf warmers in my opinion.

They never did extra mile with models, they are doing few undercover police vehicles but they doesnt bother with beacons.Dodge Monaco from Hunter is example(Probably there will be another limited edition variant with beacon) .
Sadly Horacio Caine CSI Miami Hummer from Highway 61 doesnt get any too. Why, this car clearly has beacon inside every episode. This is sad, because highway 61 is not cheap and Im expecting from this brand best, for me its lazy effort to paint Hummer in silver put csi sticker on doors and call this genuine movie replica. This is only beacon and where are computers?
But on the other hand, wannabe Mad Max Falcon has that beacon like in movie. This is just confusing...

Yep, that's Greenlight! The most frustrating company on the market!

Where low quality materials & QC issues are getting worst and worst!

As for the Mad Max Interceptor, yes they put the blue beacon ... but they didn't bother to put the white lettering on the tires .... same for the new Fast & Furios Yenko.

I was curious to see if they went the extra miles for the CSI Hummer and put some electronics in it like the one I did .... apparently not!

So of course I will keep the one I've done ....

I believe you would have wish it would have been like this one : www.facebook.com/pg/CudaJeffCustoms/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1754877898143493

That tires, they probaly doesnt want to secure another license. Also Im still confused, if it is Mad Max license or some knockoff on the edge of copyright laws. They are also planning yellow interceptor, so this is even more confusing.

I saw your great customs before, thats how its done not greenlight way.

I don't get it either!

I just received the GreenShit 1/18 John Wick Chevelle ... bought it because it was Welly's mold .... so I thought, this one should be ok ....

but I forgot that it's still GL that mold, paint & assemble them ... so a horror fest again, filled with QC problems! :

- front bumper broken ....

- steering wheel column detach from the dash and loose in the car (never seen this in over 700 models!)

- missing paint chips everywhere

- rear license plate sticker half glued on and folded

- metal used for trunk & hood are so thin that when you open / close them, they feel like they will shatter in pieces between your fingers

- again, no white lettering tires as in the movie

- spare tire in the truck is a one piece plastic, mold with the floor pan ...

so I had to disassembled it completely once again to repair the steering ... and I've noticed that once again ... they used the cheapest & thinnest plastic possible!

The plastic used for the whole interior is so cheap looking and so thin, that you can see the light of day through it!
