I've seen many of these "fantasy" cars from Exoto including the C9 and they do nothing for me. Presentation cars are one thing but the Standox series is just a way to get the most return out of a mold. I'll take a racer instead. I know some people like them, I'm just not one of them.

Not too long ago, Exoto had a big sale on the Standox cars where they were selling for about $100.

I have a pair of the Exoto Standox cars, a 935 and a 934, and I think they are great!

I understand what Qubeley is saying, and yes, being a capitalist economy, they want to get the most money from a single mold, but for some, me included, I would rather have an unmarked "non-race" version of the cars, and the Standox finish is very appealing, mainly for the reason that it really highlights the ultra-detailed (an pricy) Exotos that are in my collection, which is 99% street cars, so they really fit in as well. (Except for the giant wing on the 935!!)

But I understand that some people want racers over street cars as well!

To each his own I suppose!
That's why they continue to make both versions of the car!

Hi Ali G!

I believe the standox C9 is limited to 2000 pcs.

The last time I've seen a stanxdox C9 on eBay, it sold for 180 euro.

Nothing is wrong with them as such, but I think as a collector you either hate them or love them! I personally dislike them, and I have never bought one, for the simple reason that I like my models to be as accurate as possible, and true to a real life 1:1. A small mistake or incorrect colour does not necessarily spoil a model for me but if the manufacturer goes and deliberately sprays the whole thing a nonsense colour then it ruins it for me! :lol :lol :lol

I would probably be far quicker to have a cheapo Mattel or Maisto in a Standox colour in my collection as the models may not be the last word in accuracy themselves so a made up colour for purely asthetic reasons is I have to agree ok. But I think when a model as detailed as the C9 and into which great effort has been put to replicate an actual 1:1 is sprayed a made up colour it is to me like painting a pair of sunglasses on the Mona Lisa!!! :lol :lol :lol

I have to add I don't like models in regular made up colours either, such as any Toyota 2000GT roadsters in any other colour than white as the real thing was only ever made in white.

The bottom line as I see it however is each to their own and of course it is understandible that model makers will do this sort of thing to maximise the production of any one kind of model to get the most out of the mold they invested in to make it.

So even though I don't like Standox cars I don't dislike those who do! :lol :cheers

Makes sense...preference is the deciding factor.

I just did a comparison of my Standbox and Presentation Saubers. And I like the Standbox Sauber color better. :lol

I bought three of the Standbox Saubers from a wholesaler for $65 each. It never once dawned on me that he was parting ways with them due to the fact they were not as popular as other Saubers due to the color.

I do share your sentiments about the replica sharing the same colors as the 1:1. I will not buy a vette or a Porsche if the 1:1 did not come in that same color. Any other model is fair game as I really dont follow any other brand with the same enthusiasm.

Absolutely, it is totally down to personal preferance, apart from the colour, the Standox C9 is every bit the same as a non-Standox C9.

$65 was a great price on them even if they are not as popular as the rest of the range (I'm assuming they're not!) so it was a good buy I think! :cheers

Speaking of Standbox, does anyone here have the Catalunya Splash 959?

I have always thought this to be one of the most beautiful colors on the 959
