I'm holding for the James Dean one.
Our house is loaded with Dean books and framed posters. (parents are big fans)
So the 1:18 model of his famous "little bastard" I'd a must.

Will this be near cmc quality???

I have this one already and I would say that it is very close to CMC quality.

The blue car is about £120 shipped from Hong Kong on ebay mate, UK sellers are a rip off.

Schuco are pretty smart I've got a VW T1 Porsche renntransporter from them, it's ace.

I got my bbr enzo from there for a lot cheaper than what the uk wanted for it..

The blue 550 is nice, but I've been after a Dean car in 1:18 for a while.
Was looking for a maisto 550 and get the decals for it, but held back when I heard that AUTOart where making a 550, hoping they would soon after announce a "little bastard" aswell, but after seeing how much better the schuco Porsche is, and hearing about the Dean car, I have to get that. Lol.

It's a lovely colour blue mind. Never seen a 550 in that paint scheme before, always thought they were all silver. Lol.

i think schuco modelled theirs from chassis 067 of the 550 RS Spyder, year 1955

never knew the 550 came is so many different variants....imagine all of em making out to 1/18

Bad news, my Schuco 550 spyder arrived last week... and I'm sending it back to the seller today.
The quality control failed at the factory, and there was a batch of this models that came out with paint problems and badly assembled. If you are planning to buy one, make sure you inspect it or ask for close-up photos before you buy it.

It's a beautiful model, but depending on the batch it came out, you can have a high end model with great looks or a high end model with rat look

Totally agree with Lutz on the quality control issue.

I had to go through 3 models before finally getting my one at the local store and even after all that, the stance had issue with jammed suspension and loose rear wheel. Which fortunately were fixable.
(The first one had both the front and rear photo etched badges broken in bits)

I had to go through 2 models..., but look on the bright side, we now own a very rare model, I wonder how many of these are in collectors hands?

I had the model too but returned it back to the seller. Later on I have complained directly to Schuco and they confirmed problems with quality control but they mentioned that there will be a new batch of the model in the begining of 2013 which should be withiot any QC problems. I cannot wait!

There was/is another version planned, the replica of James dean's 550 spyder.
