I'm hoping you guys aren't tired of this conversion already.
I've been waiting to get started on this for weeks, as the car and transkit were to be birthday presents from the wife.

I picked up a Silver Autoart FRS at a steal, which justified the purchase of the Hobby Design transkit.
Couldn't resist cutting off the tabs from the fenders for a sneak peek test fit. Really nice kit. But super fragile.

Here's a shot of everything they fit in the tiny little box.

Stumbled on a Black FRS for $43 shipped, so of course, I grabbed it. This one had a minor paint flaw on the front bumper, and a visible repair on the passenger mirror.

Great little model.
But tearing into my first Autoart project is pretty daunting. And with the amount of glue they use, it's not a lot of fun.

After playing around with fitment, I realized it would be a ripe pain in the ass getting this put together after paint. Sliding the bumpers under the fenders and over the headlamps/tail lamps.
So I brought the saw out and cut along the part lines, so that I could glue the bumper components on the actual bumpers.
Here's the before and after for the front and back.

First side glued on and ready to go.

Got the other side on after work today, and pieced together the rear wing.

I had ordered a set of 18" Compomotives from Uli Nowak, thinking a meatier tire with lettering would make for a stronger look. But the Hobby Design wheels fit perfectly.

I might use them as alternates in all black, though it would be a shame to paint over the polished aluminum.
Here's where it sits at the moment.

Hoping to get some primer on some time this week.
