So I guessing Minichamps is the flavor of the year to pick on right? I remember not too long ago when we were all complaining about AUTOArt prices and yes, I was one of them. Even with their price increase, their attention to details were actually better than before. With minichamps SL65 Black and SLS prices nearing the MSRP of a AUTOart model, their attention to details doesn't appear to be any better.
You're right, Minichamps is rapidly approaching the $80-85 mark on their models, still sub $100 but it's not acceptable to cut down on features. I for one had hoped that their lower end series is the "no frills" Maisto level line with the regular Minichamps being the Kyosho/AUTOart competitors. I'm confused now...

wow that sounds bad!

is that the orange one on your signature? the doors and sill are ok on mine luckaly, thats another thing i do like about it and its the same with most minichamps is the way the doors open, the only way i can describe it is when you start to open them they kinda flick open and i like that
Yes same car as my sig. I actually dislike the way the doors open on Minichamps, yes I do understand what you're trying to say. It's too easy for the door to slam close if it's lightly taped, and I'm so afraid it's going to chip some paint. I think the best doors are Autoart, not too tight like Kyosho, but not too lose.

@Gunther
Do the wheels steer on the F1 car? I still don't have any F1s in my collection. I'm thinking about getting one of the newer chrome finished ones and the one older black color version. They seem to come out with a new one every year, but I'm not a big enough F1 fan to justify buying them every year.

Gunther, I just saw that your website it says you're waiting for the SLS black and grey. Have the grey ones been released in Europe yet?

Well, if you turn the wheels, the steer moves a little. But not vice versa....
My dealer got a mail at the beginning of this week that they released a black, iridium silver and a grey SLS, but I do not have part numbers, only for the black one, but I'm not sure if this is correct : B6 696 0042

The numbers I have are:
B6 696 0492 Black
B6 696 0493 Silver
B6 696 0494 Designo Magno Grey (This is the one I want!)

Which two were you ordering, 0492 and 0494? Please let me know if they have all cars for sure, that means we'll start seeing these pop up on eBay etc. Black came out a while ago, been waiting for the other colors now.

BTW, did you get my private message?

if you're after a chrome minichamps f1 car, go for a 2006 version. I own examples of all the chrome mclarens, and they're the prettiest in my opinion. I've just got both the 2009 mclartens, and they're quite ugly. My kovalainen model wasn't even screwed to the base properly and got trashed in transit, only just got the replacement through today.

Sorry, I don't know the interior colors. It seems like the hobby edition will be Zircon Red (I think the German name is Le Mans Red) with black interior. I based this off of the photos from the toy fair. Minichamps also showed a black on black SLS at the toy fair which I'm thinking may be another hobby color (the DE is black with peanut butter and black interior). I wish they do ALU Beam as well, it's a $10,000 paint job!

I noticed that as well in the photos, and that did it for me, I won't get one unless I can find one for under $100AUD. I have no idea why it is so popular.
The model might not be the best in the world, but the real car is an amazing machine. My boss just bought one for his wife. I have a pic, but this site wouldn't let me upload it cause the file is too big.

I don't understand why would someone buy the SL65 BS for the wife.
Does the wifey have track days with the car? It's not the most comfortable car in the world and the most space when it comes to ferrying children and go to town with it.

If it was a cheap car, then fine but it's freaking expensive.

The boss of the company I worked for has his wife driving around in one too. Apparently she liked the colour and price tag, it was the if you love me sort of thing. What a wast it spends most its time parked at the local shopping places and its on its second clutch she as only had for around two months. I often go into the old work place to talk to him as we became good friends while I worked there, he just sold his Bently for a new one in a different colour. I think the ash trays were full as he has only had 1 and a 1/2 years and it done 23 thousand miles. He 65 is wife is 32.

I used to love collecting Minichamps, I have a little over 200 of their 1/43 scale models. When I first started collecting them in the mid 90s, they were one of the best out there.

I am super stoked with my Ford 100 collection!!! However, I am less so with some of my James Bond 007 cars. I have rough surface or paint rash on the boot/trunk of my very rare 1969 Aston Martin DBS (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Whenever I see one up on eBay, I contact the sellers and ask them if their cars have the same issue as mine. All four I've asked said yes, they have the same thing. My Aston Martin DBS (Quantum of Solace) also has some slight paint issues on the roof and most of the photo etched decals have fallen off. The front plate numbers of my Aston Martin DBS (Casino Royale) has flaked off.

Also, both doors on my Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (Silver Box Dealer's Edition) have rough surface/pain rash on them. For the price Minichamps asks for their models, I would expect better quality from them. These cars have always been kept in their original case & box and stored inside a closet in my home. The temperature are constantly between 76 & 79 degrees in the house. I take them out of their package once or twice a year just to look at them and put them back in.
