This arrived yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised with it as it’s great value for $55, specially with the cost of the hobby these days. I always wanted one when I was young but irish insurance costs prohibited it, although it was probably good that it did…. so the model will have to suffice. And it had to be blue

My wife say it sitting out after I unpacked and said ugh why did you buy that😂

They were a ball to drive! The best way I can describe it… they ‘fizzed’ with energy! Super crisp throttle response, sharp handling, lightening fast gear change. So much fun :) Love the colour on yours. Totally get why you bought it. I have Norev’s 1.6 just for the memories and for the 205 probably being the best looking hot hatch not just of its era, but of any era.(y)

Hi,

First car I bought after I got a real job. I actually own 2, both 1.9s bought 2/3 year second hand, both opening roofs but that was just by chance.
First was white but got stolen after a mere 6 monthes.
Second was metallic grey and I kept it from 1991 to 2011.
I regretted I sold the moment I did and still regret it 12 years later. I really loved the car.

Exactly was Scuddy said. Add an engine, a chassis, a steering wheel, gear shift, 3 pedals and nothing else between the car and the driver.

They definitely were but the closest I got was the 1.4 (xs? Looked like a gti but way less power) but it handled amazing and had me dream about it or it’s bigger brothers. And as much of a VW guy as I am, the 205 is the best looking 80s hatch
