I have to disagree!! The C5 is very cool and I think that the new C6 (particularly
the new Z06) is the coolest of the Vette's. But we can agree that it is a very cool
Corvette and a great model. I have this one in red and black!!

The C5-R started its racing career in 1999 with this. The #2 car was co-driven by Canadian Ron Fellows. Although it didn't win any races that year, the best was yet to come in upcoming years. I hunted for this specific car for nearly 6-8 months before I tracked it down. But when I DID find it, I was :happy :happy

FORT WORTH, Texas (September 2, 2000) - Battling triple-digit temperatures as well as an old nemesis, Corvette drivers Ron Fellows and Andy Pilgrim claimed the first victory for the Corvette C5-R with their GTS class win in the Grand Prix of Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. The #3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Corvette C5-R lead the majority of the 2-hour, 45-minute American Le Mans Series race and bested their main rival, the Team Oreca Vipers.

This Autoart model, like the 1999 #2 car, has also become quite rare. I was fortunate enough to find this car in my hometown.

The C5-R would continue to rack up many more wins in its illustrious career between 1999 and 2004.
