Hi, I'm from Toronto and I'd like to get to know those collectors outthere who are from Toronto. The reason for this is that I'd like to xchange my diecast knowledge and trade some of my models with you guys... You can visit my website below and let me know what you think about my collection.

This is an awesome idea 118.

We here in Vancouver(from the CRBB) have a group of 4 that get together about 1/month and talk racing, diecast, etc. It's always a great time. We sometimes meet for breaky or lunch. It's a geat way to see who's who and get idea's and info.

Good luck. I know there's a bunch of good guys in the GTA. :cheers :cheers

I really think you guys in the GTA should not pass this up as it's a great way to make some really good friends.

:cheers

Sounds like a great idea! Although I have to admit I'm not as big a 1/18 collector myself, I think there are quite a few people here who lives in Toronto, but I think we are scattered all over the place though. :giggle
Hello 118Diecastars, I'm from Toronto, Eglinton-Mt Pleasant area, I have over 400 1/18 models, I buy most of my models at Prestige on Yorkville, and I also buy from a store in France as all the models are not avalaible in Canada .
Hi all. I'm in Markham just north of Toronto. MV, MiniGrid is pretty close to you if I'm not mistaken. They used to have a store in Markham as well but shut that down a couple months ago. They've now consolidated into their one store on Mt. Pleasant (just norht of Davisville). I've yet to got them myself.
You're right StygianMax, I go to Minigrid sometimes, usely for magazines, 1/43 or slot cars, most of the time I have better deals on the 1/18 at Prestige .
G
MV, have you ever been to Autophile at Eglinton and Laird?

Prestige pretty much has the best deal in town in my opinion, and it's only a 5 minutes drive for me to get there since I'm at St. Clair and Avenue. (That might change though since I'll be moving soon :ranting )

The Mini Grid at Mt. Pleasant is awesome, you should check it out SM. :cheers
The old MG store is now selling vacuums :lol

Thanks for that suggestion Kelvin. :thanks I had only been to their old Markham store before they closed that one down. They had some pretty decent sales going on. I must have bought 4 Le Mans "yearbooks" for anything between 30% to 50% off (depending on the year).

From the pictures on MiniGrid's website, their flagship store on Mt. Pleasant looks really sharp!

BTW, whereabouts is Laird? Are there a lot of 1:18 race cars at Autophile?
G
They have a small selection of older AUTOart race cars, IIRC, they had two of those orange Impreza rally race cars and the Corolla Rally cars. The models have been stacked up so the boxes are a bit tattered. Selection is decent and price is ok I suppose. Laird is about 1 street before Leslie (Inn on the Park), and I think about 4 lights pass Bayview.

Thanks Kelvin for that info. As I don't drive by that area often, I'm not all that familiar with the area. Maybe next time I have a meeting at Delcan, I'll do a little detour. :giggle

:thanks

Last time I went there they had a lot of books..... books, and more books in that little shop, but very few diecasts. I agree Prestige has the best prices.

If you really wanna to go Autophile just to check it out, park at the mall at the intersection of eglinton and laird. Free parking + a small walk to get to the store.

OT - Hey Crab, long time no see. It's been a while since I've seen you here. Nice to know you're still around. :cheers

Hey fellow Torontonians! I have a small colletion, but slowly growing though. As of now I have 60 AUTOart/UT models. I mostly get my models from Prestige on Yorkville and Autobahn (Sherway). :WTF

Hi PC! How have you found Autobahn to be? The last time I went there, it was in May when Ron Fellows was doing an autographing session. I can't say I saw too much variety in cars there.

OT: Does anyone know of any Toy/Hobby Shows that's coming to Toronto in the Fall? All I'm aware of is the Canadian Toy Collectors' Society 32nd Annual Toy Show link on Oct 15-17. :feedback

I've visited that show once many years ago, hopefully, I'll be able to go this time around.

How is Autobahn in Sherway? I should check it out sometime in the future... There's a diecast kiosk in Yorkdale, but boy, their price is :cuss

Yeah, that Yorkdale "booth" is pretty expensive! Plus, they don't have too much on display. I swung by last weekend with my son & there wasn't much that got us excited.

Autobahn is not exclusively a diecast store. They also sell a lot of clothing, mugs, caps, etc. Their prices are pretty high too. e.g. an AUTOart Corvette C5-R goes for C$99. :scared
anybody regular custumer at Race Buffs in Unionville, went there twice and it's the only place I've been able to find the TVR Tuscan S and Biante models .

I drop by there every now & then. Their acrylic display case is awesome looking!!!

I go there to stare at that Exoto Renault RE20 Elf F1 car too. :giggle

Car Buffs had a booth at the CNE. I scooped three New Ray bikes from them since their prices was really good. I've yet to visit their Miss. store though.
