Working on detailing out the chassis as I consider the body.

Starting with a Yunick chassis, which from GMP came with a unique fuel cell top, changed that out to a more common Trans Am fuel filler.

In the interior, added a Wink multi-panel rear view mirror (supplied by Mike Kotwick - Swede70).

Added silver paint to the front-mounted engine oil cooler.

Installed two GM Transistorized Ignition Control Modules (from a Carousel 1 Corvette) on the glove box blanking plate.

Using a GMP Streetfighter deck lid for the larger rear spoiler, so machined a hole for the Trans Am-style fuel filler.

Still working on some other details before the final assembly, got several options available.

Got to make a decision on what front/rear spoiler combination I want to use.

So, this is my interpretation of what Smokey might have presented for scrutineering by the Sports Car Club of America for an entry into the Trans American Series.

Two glaring issues do be dealt with.

Can anyone guess what they are?

And a few pictures mounted up on the ACME Ramp Hauler.

For my fantasy, Smokey preferred the metallic gold, as it made the car more visible on the race track.

And as to allegiance, Smokey worked for anyone whose check cleared.

For the SCCA, the "scru" crew sent Smokey home with a couple of corrections, primarily instructing him to install factory homologated front and rear spoilers, and to remove the headlights (among other things).

Now, back to the build.

Interior fitted with a resin-molded Solar Seat (I had one of these in my '69 Camaro).

Now some shots of the exterior.

One thing that GMP really screwed up on their original molds, and ACME continues to this day is the location of pins holding the trunk closed.

Here I have corrected that error by mounting them in the proper location, which is what the cut-outs in the ends of the rear spoiler are for.

Two GM Transistorized ignition modules mounted on the glove box replacement panel. This is also how my Camaro was wired.

Trunk detail again, with proper factory rear spoiler.

Proper factory front spoiler and blanked out headlights.

Looking pretty mean.

So, I had an old decal sheet hanging around, and thought I'd play with it.

Placed numbers on the hood and the trunk (bonnet).

Yup, I agree, they suck!

So, acquired a newer decal set, and started on them today. Unfortunately, they are a two-part decal, with a white backing and then a color overlay.

With a day's drying in between.

The wrinkle in the door will disappear with the overlay.

Nice displays!

I see you are a fan of the ACME Ramp Haulers.

If you go to my Flickr site (all my albums are public, so once you get into one of my photos, you are there), you can see that I have quite a few, plus have used them for customs as well.
