As my Lamborghini collection has hit a brick wall (the Kyosho/Autoart LP500 is too expensive/hard to find in UK, and newer models could be years off. Plus I'll only get them if they are in black, white or grey), I have embarked on a Ferrari 1:18 collection. I was inspired to buy this by the positive reaction to UT on the 'which manufacturer would you bring back' thread and T1000's recommendation of this particular model. I picked it up for £36 which I think is good value given that others were on sale for between £50 and £80. This is my first attempt at taking pictures, and they arent very good but I have tried to recreate pictures I have found online:
I'm happy to say I love this model :happy In my opinion, alongside the 550, this was the last beautiful Ferrari. UT's representation is a really good, honest replica, beautifully built and finished. I believe this was built at a time when the manufacturers major aim was to produce the best possible replica they could with the technology available, not like nowadays when the major aim of some manufacturers is to see how many corners they can cut and still get away with it.
Highlights are the perfectly represented shape, the solid feel and the crisply finished interior. My only complaints are the brake discs are entirely lacking in any detail whatsoever, no gate on the gear shift and a Ferrari emblem that has been applied in what can only be described as a jaunty angle. Not bad for a 15 year old model.
Best of all, I have a beautiful, affordable 1:18 Ferrari which isnt a Hotwheels! :yahoo
By the way, I really want to add scuderia badges to the side of this - does anyone have any advice on where I could get some?
