As my Lamborghini collection has hit a brick wall (the Kyosho/Autoart LP500 is too expensive/hard to find in UK, and newer models could be years off. Plus I'll only get them if they are in black, white or grey), I have embarked on a Ferrari 1:18 collection. I was inspired to buy this by the positive reaction to UT on the 'which manufacturer would you bring back' thread and T1000's recommendation of this particular model. I picked it up for £36 which I think is good value given that others were on sale for between £50 and £80. This is my first attempt at taking pictures, and they arent very good but I have tried to recreate pictures I have found online:

I'm happy to say I love this model :happy In my opinion, alongside the 550, this was the last beautiful Ferrari. UT's representation is a really good, honest replica, beautifully built and finished. I believe this was built at a time when the manufacturers major aim was to produce the best possible replica they could with the technology available, not like nowadays when the major aim of some manufacturers is to see how many corners they can cut and still get away with it.

Highlights are the perfectly represented shape, the solid feel and the crisply finished interior. My only complaints are the brake discs are entirely lacking in any detail whatsoever, no gate on the gear shift and a Ferrari emblem that has been applied in what can only be described as a jaunty angle. Not bad for a 15 year old model.

Best of all, I have a beautiful, affordable 1:18 Ferrari which isnt a Hotwheels! :yahoo

By the way, I really want to add scuderia badges to the side of this - does anyone have any advice on where I could get some?

The shields on that 355 look like they are low, arent they supposed a bit higher up on the quarter panel. :WTF:
Your dead right, I agree those shields look too low, here is how they should be:

Seems a bit odd that such an error could be made on such an expensive car. If I do manage to get some I will definatley be applying them in the higher position.

The F355 Berlinetta is in my opinion flawless Italian design, it's one of the most beautiful cars ever and I wish to find this red and tan UT soon. Thanks for the review!
When I was researching the F355 I was very surprised to find out that the shape is almost identical to the 348 from five years earlier:

Pininfarina removed the slats on the doors and gave the rear lights a more traditional Ferrari look, but apart from that its virtually the same

On some of the 355's they don't have the shields or older models I believe. I do know you can buy magnetic shields and put them on. The two 1:1 photos are different years. You can tell because of the light indicators in the front. Nice addition by the way. :cheers

Congrats on finding that gorgeous car in 1:18 spadge. Its my holy grail and there is no absolutely no way I am going to find one here in India. You could laser print your own badges on some glossy paper and stick them on the sides of the car with some clear glue. Thats what I would have done.
