An elegant car by Volvo came out during the groovy 70's period, the Volvo 1800ES.
This Volvo was actually the Playboy Playmate of the year's car in 1973.
here's a link to an image: http://volvo1800pictures.com/gallery/fam_3_bilsida.htm

And here, are my pictures... I've roped in a couple of ANA Fight attendents from the past to help out as well. I really enjoyed shooting these shots. Esp, with the ANA girls, they just fit in so well with this elegant car.

Amazing pics Louis! This car is a piece I'm looking for, it's just so cool! Why can't modern cars look this good? :confused

The ANA ladies help too :giggle

Are you trying to copy me? :ranting

Just joking MB :wink :lol .

I was never reay interested in this car, but having seen your pics i am amazed of how detailed it actually is, especially those hinges on the rear hatch. And having thought about it, what a subject choice from Minichamps
Ill have to give this a purchase if i ever see it.

thanks guys :)
yeap, its a very beautiful and elegant car for its time. the lines of the car are very nicely done, and you can notice the little details in the design, like the way the rear lights are placed slightly out of the bodywork, and the way the door has a line which runs up from the side towards the window pillar. Nice touches like that.

I think this is one of my favourite shots among the cars i have...the blue car and the blue uniform goes so nicely

My favorite area of styling on it is the rear hatch and the way they integreted it into the design of the old coupe body. Few manufacturers, even today, would use a totally frameless glass hatch. The norm would be to make it steel and just add a window that matched the rest of the greenhouse. Volvo's solution, though, took a very dated, almost '50's looking design (the original P1800 coupe) and made it look fresh and modern.

Living in the SF Bay area, I actually see these and the coupe version on the road every day! Numerous cars in this line...especially in Berkley...they seem to have a cult following over here...you see more of these and older Volvo's than Saab's...extremely cool car and awesome pics!
