This will be my first model car. I was originally going to begin collecting the models which you build for yourself, but I decided that I didn't have the skill to not ruin the models. Since it's a lot of money for what's basically just a shelf item, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it, and I only wish to collect my all time favourite cars and motorcycles. I have set my budget at 250 € or so, which might not be a lot for a brand new model. My favourite model in terms of appearance is the early LP400S low body, with the small round mirrors. I love all of them, but the 25th Anniversary is my least favourite, and the Evoluzione I don't like at all.

I'm from Europe. Thank you for your time.

I imagine you would want one with full opening with the uber cool popup lights and scissors doors etc no? I think you can probably net a good old Kyosho diecast LP400 full opening with the 250 budget in 1/18 scale. They do pop up from time to time on eBay etc. Not sure what is the going rate for the 1/12 I imagine it would be way more considering the rarity? I would imagine 1/12 being larger therefore have less smaller intricate parts that breaks more easily?

I too prefer the early LP400 with pure simpler lines before bits and pieces were added to the later iteration of Countaches. Not a big fan of 25th Anniv myself as well but I do have a 1/18 Ricko for the sake of "completeness". I think a Kyosho LP400 will satisfy you. Autoart made LP400 as well but minus the small round side mirrors which looks kinda incomplete in my view. My first proper 1/18 Countach is a yellow Kyosho LP400 and i am still loving it to this day.

Yes, at least the headlights and doors. After all, those are a part of the styling. I agree that the lack of mirrors tend to make cars look a little bit naked. I have seen some AutoART and Kyosho models at Ebay, and I read some complaints about the proportions on their LP400 model. A couple of the Kyosho ones seem to have been built under a different name. The AutoART models seem to be the 25th Anniversary model, or incredibly expensive. I'm looking at some local markets but I've found nothing.

in 1:18 with opening features, it is AUTOart and Kyosho to look for. they both made some different versions, but are long out of production and depending the version it might not be easy or cheap to find.
i have 3 AUTOart Countach'es, a WW edition LP500S that i removed the WW decals from, and two 25th Anniversaries. they are very nice.

You can forget a 1/12 version of the Countach at the price you are willing to pay as they are a few times more expensive than the 250 Euros. The best chance is to get a damaged one if they should ever come up for sale and all the 1/12 are quite rare now with HUGE asking prices on ebay. The 1/12 Kyosho models are Superb, i have the Black and the White version's and the White is the perfect 1/12 Countach.

White Countach is the absolute epitome of the 80s. I've just watched the car chase highlight of the white Countach and Crockett's black Daytona from Miami Vice. The white Countach is Uber cool.

Speaking of broken 1/12 Countach. Maybe Mythbuster prop dept might still have one LOL those bastards destroyed a perfectly good yellow 1/12 kyosho Countach for some silly experiment they were doing in one of the episodes :(

Guess what I'm going to say (some of you may know already)

Out of all the models I have. I still don't have a Countach model. I was looking at a Make Up IDEA one recently and I thought it looked nice. I didn't get round to buying though.

One thing I wanted to know, do any of the 1/18 models have the door windows correct ? A lot of people think the windows are completely flat, but the lower one is at a different angle to the top one (I was told to look out for this as a giveaway on fake / kit car Countach's) It's probably hard to see / replicate on a 1/18 model, but I hope some have.

I have done some looking around. The AutoART model looks to be slightly more accurate to me. I would say that they are equal, but the Kyosho one has a windshield which is noticeably off. It's great, and I would absolutely be satisfied if I were to purchase one. But it's not for the people who are obsessed with complete accuracy.
