Well I swore I'd cut down this year, but it's not going too well thanks to a 15% Pre-Brexit discount at CK Modelcars

The Manta looks a bit crude, but it's cheap and it's almost a replica of the Vauxhall I owned as my second car, which I never imagined would be available as a 1:18, so I had to get it.

The others are also pretty cheap, but diecasts I've often thought of buying and the reduced prices, combined with the discount tipped me over the edge.

REALLY, REALLY, REALLY going to try harder in future months!

I bought this thinking it was white - and let's face it, it does look white!
My intention was to add decals to replicate the 1983 Le Mans winner.
Oh well, I got it at around half the original price....
What colour is it then? I'm confused!

It's blue, right? ;)

I'm guessing it's pearlescent white?

It's a pale silver grey.
And to the best of my knowledge no race car ran with this as a base colour.
Edit - I think I would describe it now as 'Mica silver' - a Tamiya colour description.

It's an odd choice and, like you, I can't think of (or find via a quick Google) any 962 that raced in that colour in period.

It almost looks like it's TRYING to look like a press presentation car, but I don't see any photos of one that looks like that.

Autoart 1987 Lotus 99T A.Senna.

BBR Ferrari Fxxk Evo #54

TSM Porsche 935 Interscope
All very nice, I didn't know AUTOart ever did F1 cars, let alone as detailed as that!

Nice to see BBR doing a proper detailed, opening diecast again - I love the couple I have.

In the unlikely event that the FXX ever appears heavily discounted, I may get one, even though the car itself doesn't greatly interest me.

Black Veyron, Le Mans 911 GT1 and Red Aston (The metallic flake looked too big on the green in photos for my liking) on their way to me.

Without this bloody lockdown I probably wouldn't have bought, but what else is there to look forward to at the moment?

Anyway, I'll probably stick one or more on eBay in the near future, because I've got nowhere to put these!

>> I wonder if the DR30 Silhouette is the next on the bargain list?

God, I hope not!

My EB110 (from CK, but I've never had any issues with Modellissimo either) was fine.

Whether I was just lucky or you weren't, I can't say - A broken wheel seems exceptional and I can't imagine it was sent deliberately.

I know some people complained about paint rash - Maybe I'm just less picky, although I've not noticed any issue.

Statistically, who knows? I guess it depends HOW perfect a model you expect.

It would have been rude not to.

ASTONS
I really fancied the blue one, but the metal flake looked pretty big in all the photos I saw and I snapped up a Red one at the cheapest price (about half the blue car!), which I'm very pleased with.

A couple of days later, though, the latest Classic & Sportscar magazine arrived with a blue Vantage on the front cover! Damn you C&SC! (Actually, it's green, but a blue-green to my eyes!)

I've been after a Daytona 2000 Dodge Viper for a while and got an AUTOart one from eBay.

Sadly, it arrived today, nicely packed, but the car wasn't screwed onto its base and the drivers door mirror has broken off in transit!

A bit disappointing to say the least - Yes, I can glue it back on, but I didn't pay for a damaged model - Now waiting to see what the seller responds.

ETA - Agreed a reduced price, so I just need to fix the mirror back now.

I've been on a bit of a GT1 splurge on eBay in the last couple of weeks.

First I picked up an AUTOart C5 Corvette, then an AUTOart Daytona 2000 winning Dodge Viper and, most recently, this AUTOart Panoz Esperante GTR

All great models, that I've admired from afar for a long time, and all (well, in a couple of cases) under £100 each.

(The eagle eyed will notice a door mirror is missing - I knocked it off when unpacking the car!
Luckily it's popped out of the hole in one piece, so will fix back easily, unlike the Viper door mirror which was snapped off in transit, but hey-ho, such is the risk of buying on eBay and the buyer gave me a decent discount on the Viper for the damage which is otherwise in lovely condition.)

I also have a Mercedes CLK GTR inbound, but sadly only a Maisto one

The XJ13 is one of my favourite diecasts - I paid NEARLY £40 for mine!
Wow, I paid about 200 for mine a few months ago.

Yeah, if only we could travel back in time, eh?

Today I bought my second ever Exoto: Jaguar XJR-9 Castrol Livery #60 Daytona Winner! It's a model that I've been looking at for quite some time, and thanks to the Exoto Facebook group, I was able to find somewhat of a basket case example for a very fair price. Model has no box, has a broken off front wheel, suspension and steering components are also broken off and in small pieces, and some pieces in the engine are also broken off. I will assess what can be repaired, but luckily all pieces are included, and the exterior body and paint, as well as the interior, are damage free.

Either way, I'm very excited for this repair build!
Sounds a bit of a project, but it'll be worth a go - I've got a couple of Exoto Cobra Daytona Coupes that cost me £44 (some years ago now), that it looks like a careless child used as toys.

The white one has lots of missing parts, but the blue one is displayable (the steering is broken, so the wheels go in different directions!), although it's not perfect.

I've often toyed with the idea of buying a cheapy Cobra Daytona model and mixing and matching to make a displayable car out of the white one, but I suspect the parts wouldn't really be that compatible.

Good luck with the Castrol Cat, it's a great looking car!
