I just occured to me that we all, in some way or the other,
have a very common taste as far as choice of diecast cars.

I was browsing around the forums on info about a Maybach 57.
(i'm interested in the on with 22'' tires)
and found a lot of guys having exactly the same model.

Being inspired by the mapping of each of us on the google map thing which shows where everyone is on the map...

I WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE...
a post, a discussion or some way to tally or a way to count the models diecast we all have.

THE PURPOSE..
to plot what is the most common model all of us share and the least common,
we can expand this to whatever....

HOW TO DO IT?
just list the cars (model name, color, brand) in an excel sheet.

WHO WILL TALLY IT?
If you guys like the idea... i do it .... if you allow me of course...
I can tally the results and post it in this forum.

It would be fun to find out the top 5 common diecast cars amongst us.
OF COURSE, this might have been done before and i don't know about it.

TELL ME WHAT YOU GUYS THINK... ESPECIALLY DIECASTX...
AFTER ALL, BEING THE SITE OWNER... THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD NEED HIS PERMISSION.

POST ME!

You certainly don't require my permissions to to do this. i say go for it.

That sure is a lot of spreadsheets to sort through.

One way to tell is to go to the Photos of the Day Forum or New Arrivals Forum and look at the pics people post. That is one way to determine which model we have in common other than asking.

I think that a high proportion of members either own or have owned an AUTOart Porsche 996 GT3-RS in either blue or red. Last year, shortly after I joined DX everyone was going mad for this model. A simlilar thing happened with the BMW M3 CSL too, be they AUTOart or Kyosho.

Sounds like a good idea! I haven't updated my Excel list in a while but will do so this weekend.

What info would you need for an easy comparison? I guess

Model brand
Scale
Make/model (eg Ferrari F355)
Livery/racing number (if applicable)
Year

as a minimum?

:cheers

I wonder if there would be enough interest in a new forum where members could list there collections?
Of course we do have the Member Spotlight for such a thing :wink

I guess this would be the BASIC FORMAT

TO EVERYONE WHO IS INTRESTED:

MODEL BRAND: (ie autoart, minichamps... etc)
SCALE: (ie 1:10, 1:12... etc)
MAKE/MODEL: (ie Maybach 57 with 22" tires, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7... etc)
LIVERY/RACING NUMBER/DRIVER?: (ie GULF lemans #5 driver whoever... etc if applicable)
YEAR: (ie 2004, 1971, 1938)
COLOR: (ie Caspian black.. like the Maybach comes in several color vesions)

Before we start tallying... lets agree this is the fields to fill.
we can go on adding fields BUT... i would like to keep it simple!....

SEND IT TO MY EMAIL: [email protected]

to keep it friendly... just call me Arnold, i work in Advertising... i use a MAC so just make sure it is saved as a simple excel sheet... i live at +3 gmt.

What i'll so is post a partial tally at the end of each week.
by the end of the year, i ll close the tally.

we will then have data on how may participated, what thier cars are, AND to answer the question!!

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON DIECAST CAR WE ALL HAVE

Including:
TOP 5 CARS,
FAVORITE COLOR FOR CAR
MOST BOUGHT MAKE (porsche, audi... etc)
TOP 5 BRAND (Based of number of purchases)

LET THE COUNTING BEGIN!
