I'm not sure if a dedicated topic like this one exists, but after having placed pre-orders of my own recently, I was curious to know how many others regularly buy this way. For myself, I have the Spark Audi R18 and the Kyosho Audi R8 GT on order... How about you?

This topic kind of falls in the same as a wishlist thread. For me, I'd only pre-order a purchase If I really crave for a particular model, that I know will be sold out in weeks. Ex. Red nsx, white LFA, a sang noir veyron etc. I usually buy cars on or after the release date.

Hi JB, I myself would never allow my self to pre order, By which I mean give someone a down payment before I have the model.
I have heard to many stories on here about how bad pre ordering has been for some DX'ers

I have plenty on my wish list, and Ebay watch list though Lol.

I agree with you bigdave, and to clarify, this seller (Toronto Motorsports) doesn't charge anything until the goods have arrived, and I've had great experience in the past with them. I was especially keen on ordering the R18 since I initially hesitated on the Spark R15 only for it to sell out and make it harder to get.

Plus, this way I'm supporting a local business, and hopefully they can continue to serve my area!

I too have placed pre-orders with TO Motorsports and have never had issues, and they do not charge anything until item is on hand and ready for shipment.
I currently have a 1:18 HWE Ferrari 458 Spider, and a 458 GT2 Hankook Sponsored on pre-order. Thinking of adding a 1:18 L.Hamilton 2012 F1 Car to that List.

Only model I have on pre-order is the 1/18 TSM Ferrari F50 GT. I suspect that model will pretty much sell out instantly lol...
Other than that, I do have a couple 1/8 scale figures on pre-order, which also will sell out quickly.

I pre-ordered the CMC 250 California in Blue. I've also put in an order for an MR 458 Spider in burgundy with tan interior too, this one only seems readily availaibe in the US & Asia so far.

The R18 is out, not sure if it's hit you guys yet though. The R15 did sell out really fast a while ago but lately a few stockists have had them.

True Scale Porsche 936 Martini

I'm waitting for a long time for this to be produced in 1/18 and I'm very surprised no one here mentioned it!

I also agree for the CMC California but I haven't pre ordered it as I want to see first if its worth 300+ euros! I'm a big CMC fan but I feel they will sell for a lot less on ebay when produced so I didn't pre order, I'm just waitting for it to become available in all colors and then decide.

I have two - in May I pre-ordered from Replicarz their re-issue of the former Carousel 1 A.J. Foyt 1977 Indy 500-winning Coyote-Ford. I have no fears about them as they have demonstrated integrity and good faith in my dealings before and won't charge me until it becomes available 4Q this year. On the other hand...

In February I PAID for the Minichamps 1/18 #78 BMW M3 GT2 Le Mans car from bmwpartssource.com, the internet arm of a BMW dealer in Pennsylvania - and have yet to receive it. I had previously bought the Jeff Koons Art car from him and had no problems during that transaction, but the lack of communication, updates and even responses to my emails led to me calling the dealer to complain. Because my price was so low ($125), I'm willing to wait longer, but there is a limit to my patience

Not sure if it's the same seller as one on ebay, but their feedback isn't inspiring.
