This Fiat - in Orange - sold out some time back. Despite its flaws, I regretted not getting one in this colour when I could. I don’t even see them on eBay. I was very pleased to see that Laudo has now done another run of 300 units in orange. There was no holding back this time. I have to wait until April before it ships. I can live with that :)

Scuddy, The email sent to me states that there are 'upgrades' to the 131.
I couldn't find any suggestion as to what these were.
Perhaps those strangely angled rear light clusters.
If they have fixed this, I won't pass again this time....
Morning Slart!

if we’re talking about the same email I received, I think they said update, not upgrade. In this case, the update relates to the availability of the Alfa 155, not upgrades to the 131. I’d be astonished if they’ve fixed the rear lights. But we’ll see :)

Looks Fantastic but i am in two minds about it too as i am thinking of ordering it, what swayed you ?
It took me so long to pull the trigger because I wasn't sure how I will refocus my collection, in terms of both, scale and theme. I decided I will transition to 1:12, selling all 1:18 scale models, and in 1:8 scale, I want only the most iconic models of their era. I already have a 1:8 Pocher Ferrari F40, the SLR coupe would represent the immediate post war era, then I would want two more, a Bugatti Type 35 to represent the pre war era and a modern supercar. The idea is to be patient and find a second hand Amalgam example for a reasonable price, unless LeGrand/Pocher will release something new.

That’s really interesting @mxrz because for me thing went more the other way round:

Having quite some beautiful 1/18 models I seriously felt tempted to to give the larger scales a try. Admittedly DXers like @drivinghermad, @Martinoss and others had a good part in making me fee this way.

So I gave it a try this summer and ordered a Bauer Atalante. It’s an amazing model for sure but having the real thing in front of me I realised that this scale simply is too large for me. At the end I used my return option and gave the Atalante back.

It seems I am just a 1/18 guy - fullstop. ;)

No prob at all but good to know. So I will no longer be looking for a decent deal on a 1/12 model but keep hunting for some of the 1/18 gems I missed out in the past…

I went to the Legrand website and then to a couple of YouTube videos, one showing its construction (just a shot of the body being molded - and then left on the floor!) and one of a walk-around of the pre-production grey version. It costs about twice what the upcoming CMC Uhlenhauts cost, which seems about right considering the scale and size. Way outside my budget and direction but this is a car that's always had a special place in my heart so I will continue to hover around anything Rudi U. came up with 😉.

I just came back from a long work trip and I'm about to go through 20+ packages that arrived in the past few months, many of them are 1:18 models, and I've already ordered some more, I still have quite a few 1:18 scale models I must have, before I go through with the transition. I agree that 1:18 is probably the best scale, and seeing what can be done (Exoto XS and many CMCs) I would be happy to stay with 1:18, but those few super detailed models spoiled me, and I keep looking at my AutoART 917K's, which I love so much, but they just don't measure up... and that's just one example of many...

A big part of my decision to transition to 1:12 is the availability of highly detailed kits from Model Factory Hiro. I know they use resin bodies, but I can live with that... the important part is all the detail under the hood. I already have a "must-have" list of 25+ of their kits, comprising of the most iconic race cars from Porsche and Ferrari, Merdeces, Alfa, Lancia, Maserati, Bugatti... they just released an Autounion Type-C as well, and they keep releasing new kits way faster than CMC does. The fact that each kit will require many hours of labor on my part will also (hopefully) curb my spending habits, which are getting a bit out of control right now, with all the expensive 1:18 models I've been buying...

Having said that I just bought a 1/8 Benz Motorwagen by Franklin Mint. :ROFLMAO:

May sound crazy but for me this amazing Franklin Mint is more like a museum quality model of a steam engine for single display- not directly related to my model car colletcion.

Very nice, I will have to add that to my list as well... nothing represents the genesis of internal combustion powered automobiles like the first patented example ever. (y)
