Smokey's bringing a chassis home, anyone wish to guess what it's going to be?

Maybe Steve McQueen's dune buggy from the "Thomas Crown Affair " ?😁

Since I finished the 917K I've gone completely off the rails as this pile of bits is now on my be bench.

I built it from a kit before the pandemic and had it professionally painted. However, before I got it back from the painter I'd become interested in model cars so it's been on the back burner for a couple of years. The pro painter did all the airbrush work along with the lettering (decals) and lining (with a spring bow pen) and I've painted the wheel rims and the boiler backplate (dashboard).

It's just about done now and ready for a test run on my brother's model railway.

This is a class A3 and I have the class A4 in the same condition after being professionally painted ready to finish off, plus three smaller locomotives built up but still to be painted, so I'll be on and off the rails for a while.

Cheers,
Peter

So, I've bought two of these.

Side by Jim Forte, on Flickr

First one (#0209 for those of you who are keeping track) will be converted to GMP Torque Thrusts.

Second one (just got delivered today, and unopened) will be converted to resin Minilites, as I did previously.

Nice Jim.
I know these American muscle cars are big, but I was still surprised at the size of the models when I saw a couple in a second hand shop the other day. I had to check they were 1:18 scale and not something bigger!
Cheers,
Peter

My first time adding water slide decals... added the 911 GT1 lettering to both. Not perfect I know, and I'd like to eventually replace the '97 (right) with the yellow one and redo it anyways, this was just for practice. And I'm pretty happy with the '96 (left). I also gave them sticker paper license plates, based on 1:1s, while I was at it.

sticker paper license plates
You mean you bought already cut to size, self-adhesive license plates? Might I ask where? I've been looking for something like that.

I buy waterslide decal plates, but instead of watersliding them I just put double sided tape at the back and cut them to size.

I know some people print theirs, I'd love to do that too but my printer sucks.

I printed all of it myself. I made the plates on licenseplates.tv, edited the images a little bit, for the German one, I had to add the stickers after the S. Set it all to highest settings and printed it on my HP DeskJet 2723e inkjet printer. The license plates on glossy sticker paper, and the water slide decals on decal paper.

When I do more, I'll be looking around for some soft black plastic that I can cut to size, for the frames. I might also try making water slide decal license plates for certain cars, like the old Italian cars with the "PROVA MO" on the black background.

The license plates on glossy sticker paper
Ah, that's what I did wrong then. My printer is similar to yours, but I printed on a regular A4 sheet.

I was thinking of doing the black frame as well, my idea was to waterslide the plates on matt black vynil wrap, then cut around leaving a bit extra for margin, maybe half a milimeter. I haven't tried that yet, though. So no idea if it will work.

Did you ask? The listing says: “Shipping: Worldwide“…
Yeah, I tried contacting him a few times, that was before the pandemic. Never got an answer.

Anyway, I wasn't very impressed with his British plates (wrong font), and in my experience contacting the very few eBay sellers who make custom plates, they're not very accomodating and only want to sell what they already have printed, which is usually a load of rubbish. I'm stuck with a bunch of those "custom made" license plates I bought of sellers like that, so I'm disinclined to try them again.

I have one seller I buy from when I need German plates, about 12 pairs per sheet and cost a little over €10 posted.

But thanks for trying to help all the same! (y)

Holy cow! I just checked out some of his work, the stuff he makes is work of art!

Almost too good for the models I want to buy for, but still, I'm going to prepare a list and get some prices... 💰💰💰

Thanks for the tip, Wes! (y)
absolutely, enjoy! but just to give you a hint, that pic I posted was 135 euro 😂
