Would you buy AA's Bentley Speed 8?

It would be really nice to add another Le Mans winner to my collection (Mclaren GTR, GT1-98, V12 LMR, 2 R8s) It's just that it really bothers me that AUTOart decided to come up with closed body shell editions. It's like going to your local pet shop and admiring the puppies from the outside. I bought the JGTC Skyline #23 in a heartbeat, ignoring that fact that it lacks openings because I never thought I'd see one in 1:18 scale. Lately though, it's been in its box and the thought of its teasing looks being so limited kills me. I would much rather not see it. :scared

Good news is there's a 2002 Speed 8 that's been on its way for quite a while. But who needs ANOTHER podium finisher? The '99 GT-One #3 is BEAUTIFUL, but it would have been much nicer if it had been a winner.

It doesn't even sell on Ebay :crying

Other good news is that AUTOart will also be releasing a '91 787b in the near future (3-5 years :lol ) Let's hope this one doesn't also end up as a 'shell'

(clearing throat)

So would you get the Bentley? If so which one?

If the opening version is really comming out, even if it's not the winner, I would go with it. I hate curbside models.
Is it a fact that AUTOart will release a decent version of the Speed 8?

I was feeling bad with myself about caving in and buying the curbside, because I think the same way MP does about AUTOart's stupid policy. But if a opening version is comming out, even though it's not the winning car, I would get it so that I can have that gorgeous car and sleep with a clear conscience.

A friend of mine said these curbside models actually still have an engine in it (his example is the Skyline), it's just that it doesn't open? :feedback
No, it doesn't have an engine.

If I didn't care for opening parts I would be collecting 1:43 instead of 1:18.
I thought they put the weights in the car so that it would feel heavier, since it's stripped down. :confused
If the 2002 has opening parts and does really come out, I'll take it insteadd of the '03 in a heartbeat.

As one of the original haters of these sealed cars ("If those parts ain't opening, neither is my wallet" :giggle) I caved and bought the Bentley. It's a Le Mans winner, it's well done, I got it cheap. If any of those didn't apply I would not have bought it. Sealed JGTC cars have no appeal to me unless they're dirt cheap. If the upcoming ones have opening parts, I'm all over them. :cheers
Well if you know of another cheap Speed 8 for sale (and by cheap I mean less $40 bucks), let me know. :cheers
I'm using US dolars. But it would be really nice if Richard is using funny money. :lol
