Check out these photos of the MB SLR by CMC... CMC SLR I think the interior/engine bay is great! But the outside... :scared At least in these photos, the gaps and fitting on the outer panels, just looks bad to me, along with the taillight, which doesn't do it for me... Just my thoughts, wondering if anyone else feels the same?

I'll start off by saying this is really a nice model.

However, for the price, I can surely find a lot wrong with it :giggle

There is something wrong with the wheels or tires as they have always looked awkward to me. Don't know why. but it seems in every photo, the wheels or tires jump out at me. :confused

Those hinges on the hood, are they like that on the 1:1?

I'll end by say that this is reall a nice model :lol

:iagree The wheels are the first thing that jump out at me too, for me, the rims aren't big enough and there's too much rubber to see from the side. in my opinion the SLR is not as good as other CMC releases, maybe they need more experience in building a modern automobile?

oh my. 184 dollars. Nice car though. Me, personally, I'm going to wait for either Minichamps or AUTOart to do this car. Stupid AUTOart, make the 1:18 already! Your 1:43 silver SUCKS!

:iagree

I only want the model because it's MB's newest Supercar.

I personally don't like the look, it just looks weird to me, with such a short end.

Also, its performance (from what I've tested in GT4 :giggle ) isn't very impressive. It's very fast on the straights, but crap at turning.

I'm coming to the defence of the CMC SLR again!

Darrick - Yes the 1:1 has a hood hinge system that is very similar to the CMC.

I've taken quite a few pics of my blue SLR, and the panel gaps look considerable. However, in the metal you honestly don't notice, and the wheels don't look too bad either.

Its between this and the Exoto Sauber for the award for the best 1:18 model of a modern car. This is not my opinion it is FACT!

:cheers

Its got to me then, when I looked at Richards photo, the first thing that I looked at was the wheels and tires :lol

Looking at the details of this model, I have no doubt its a very fine piece. maybe I just need to get one in hand...anyone care to help out :lol

Wow, guess I hit a nerve...

Just to clarify, I've got nothing against the model, I was just stunned by the "look" of the gaps and what not... and it may just be the color/photos... Take a look at the photos of the 1:1 and the CMC 2 posts above... to me it just looks like the smothness/seemlessness of the 1/1 is lost in translation.... But without looking at a 1/1 it is a great model, not trying to say it isnt.
but again, just my :mine

Don't worry Mec011, you haven't "hit a nerve".

Its just that in my very humble opinion, the CMC SLR in 1:18 is a far better model than its currently recieving credit for.
Sure there is an issue with the wheel/tyre size and profile, but overall the model is amazing.
Alot of the criticism towards this model is actually coming from people who don't actually own them. Everybody who owns one that i've spoken to are pleased with it. Some people have experienced hinge failure, but other than that there are not many complaints.

:cheers

It is an excellent car in my humble opinion. After seeing Speedfiends I realized it was worth it to me. I have the Silver one pre-ordered and still waiting. :pullhair

Was at a track day a few months back at Silverstone and the SLR looked very impressive on the straights (coming up behind me) and the corners (overtaking me :cry ) i was driving my friends 996 Turbo at the time.

The model is very nice aswell. I have to agree with Jim you really have to see it with your own eyes it just about looks worth the money you paid for it :lol but it is a very nice model, much more detail then my Minichamps CGT which cost me nearly the same price.
