I did this mod this past summer and thought I would finish it off by adding some hash marks and cutting the top.

This first pic is of me experimenting with a new background and some lighting. :giggle

I managed to paint the Corvette inserts red without any problems.

The dual exhaust tips are from the first round of mods, eliminating the quad tips.

Mufflers were painted white, not sure as to why I did that, should have painted them matte gray.

The cut actually came out smoother than what the pics dictate. The maisto model has a dip in all the roofs :confused , which causes it to look uneven if not looking at it directly.

Next up for the EB Z is going to be:

Possibly a blacked out rear end

*3 point racing harness (possibly some new seats as well)
*A Whipple Supercharger(not sure how this is one is going to play out)
*50th Anniversary Plate
*Interiror accents

Its going to be a whle before its completed. :giggle

CX,

I used a dremel to make the conversion.

I tried using a scalpel the first time, but after two tops, I decided that a dremel was going to be the tool of choice. :lol

Looks good DX!
I have an extra EB Z06 that I want to do that to, thanks for the pics!
At one time these EB Z06's were bringing some good returns on eBay since they were hard to get Target Exclusive, but I guess that since the Ertls came out the price crashed.

I used a can of Testors paint.

The inserts started out as being difficult as painting the insides with perfection is impossible.

I found the trick was to paint the entire area and take a damp wrag an wipe away, this will remove all the paint from the outside and leave the inserts intact. :cheers

Al,

I too remember that. I found out that Maisto made these exclusively for Target and the due to the demand for them, they did a 2nd run of these once more for Target. I noticed the price dipped slightly on these when the second batch came through.
