One of the best parts of getting a new model is learning the history of the car it is based. In this case, the Ferrari GTO started life May 1963 being sold to Col. Ronnie Hoare of the UK. The first year it was raced throughout the UK with Mike Parkes, Jack Sears and the great Graham Hill behind the wheel and accumulated many wins.
At the end of 1963 the car was rebodied by Scaglietti to the Series II body style. The car would continue its winning ways until the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans. Prior to the race, the hood scoop was added. For the race, Innes Ireland and Tony Maggs raced the GTO to a 6th place overall.
The car continued to race through 1965, unsuccessfully. The car seems to still do runs at the Goodwood revival. It should be easy to spot as it retains the Series II bodywork and its unique red and blue livery, and those great looking blue wheels!

I have to say that for the price the CMR models represent pretty good value. I recently saw some of the Ferrari 512s and Porsche 917s and thought that they looked great. I have to add one of these GTOs - it looks fabulous in the pictures. My only reason not to would be if CMC decided to model it. Otherwise in this livery it is hard to fault. Great add mate, your taste in cars is very similiar to mine.

The 250 GTO 1964 is an iconic car. I was hoping a quality opening model would be done at some point (Guiloy excluded) but I guess it won't happen anytime soon. The CMR looks great, good choice, congrats.

I just ordered this one on a bulk order from CK(always have to add a few half-dozen things to make the shipping worth it). Not a huge fan of cheaper resins, but this particular one has a lot of little bobbles and bracket bits added to it that the other CMR '64 250's don't, and the blue painted wheels have a lot of 'cheat' factor to them. Always wanted one to park next to my Kyosho.

So far their best, IMO. Really impressed with their ever improving quality.
