Hi...i am a collector from Greece...i have as a goal to collect all the le mans winners from 1923 onwards...tough one but i will try !!!
I have sold my old collection which consisted of aproximately 40 1:18 racing cars and now i started collecting the Le Mans winners in 1:18 scale.
I have a goal of collecting them all or at least whatever is available since a lot of them have never been produced in 1:18 scale, in 10 years from now, so i decided to join the community to have someone to talk about my hobby.

Welcome to the forum! You definitely need to check out this thread: Complete (post war) Le Mans outright winners in 1/18 -...

It will be a great achievement if you can manage it, and some of the gaps that Mizen was filling with custom models are now being filled in by model manufacturers; Spark have recently released the 1981 winner. Good luck!
Thanks a lot !!! Mizen’s collection is absolutely amazing !!! I hope I can get at this level at some point !!! I just hope that manufacturers will make more of the pre-war winners

UPDATE #1
So today I received 4 new models, the 1930,2015,2016 and 2017 winners.
The 1930 Bentley is made by Spark so I new exactly what to expect…beautiful model !!!
The 3 Porsches are made by Ixo. I never had an Ixo and I didn’t know what to except…I am absolutely amazed by their quality considering their
price (72€ each). In general absolutely happy for this order…I didn’t get them in the display because I had to go to work but once I get home it will be the first thing I will do.

Nice progress so far. I do love a Le Mans racer!

I've got a few winners etc myself, for the Audi R8's of the early 2000's I think only Maisto have made those. They are not that great a model really. I had a lot of them but sold them & only kept my favourites.

Yeah…I am not a fan of Maisto myself too…but the 2000 Audi R8 that won was released this year by topmarques…great model but a bit pricey (250€).

I think that's a bit too expensive, especially if it's a sealed resin model. If you can't take the engine cover off to see the engine, it's too money for one. It's a shame Spark haven't made it. They have done R8 models, but later ones from 2004 & 2005. I scored some of those really cheap (under €50 new) in the past, but they are not the winners.

UPDATE #3

My new models have arrived !!!!
The Werk83 Dauer is pretty good for it’s money…maybe one step below Ixo but still pretty good and considering the price of the Spark Dauer 962 it is great !!!!
As for the 787b all I can say is that since I am a huge fan of Spark I think it is absolutely perfect !!
Let me know what you think of them !!!

There has been quite some time since my last post here but i am back !!!
In the meanwhile i have added some new models in my collection !!!
The 1999 BMW v12 LMR by Minichamps and the 1971 Porsche 917K by Spark !!! (pictures coming soon). I am also waiting for the 1937 Bugatti (really wanted that since it was announced) and the 1968 Ford gt40 (they are in the mail) both by Spark.
So with these additions my collection is up to 12 models since i have sold the Norev 962 from 1986 because i did not quite like it. Long way to go but we are getting there model by model !!!
My next purchases will be during the black friday hoping to get some good deals !!!
Pictures of the new purchases coming soon !

These are the 2 latest additions that I didn’t upload :
The Minichamps Bmw V12 Lmr which is a sealed model…it is not the model that will make you go crazy but it pretty well and definitely worth the display !
As for the Spark Porsche 917…I think I am in love !!!!!!!
What do you think of them ?

It's a great theme that you are chasing with the Le Mans winners. I have amassed, not specifically looked for the Le Mans winners but happend accross a few. I am going to be actively trying to collect all of Ferrari's Le Mans winners though. Like you I am a big fan of Sparks models but only when a diecast version is not available - prefer opening details where possible. The 917K of yours though looks particulary desirable.

The Ferrari winners are actually great cars…a bit on the expensive side though due to them being made mostly by BBR and Looksmart.
I don’t know why but always preferred resin over diecast. I guess I like the sharpness of it over the diecast models.

The unfortunate thing is that many of the excellent diecast models that were originally released are now comanding crazy prices. Some incredible diecast Le Mans winners are the BBR Ferrari 375, Autoart Mazda 787B, Exoto Jaguar D-Type, Autoart Jaguar D-Type, TSM Porsche 936, CMC Jaguar C-Type, Exoto Jaguar XJR11, Minichamps Porsche 956s, Exoto Sauber C2 and the various Exoto Ford GT40 mk 2 and 4.

I recently picked up the Looksmart Ferrari 250P and 275P Le Mans winners and can attest that they are great resin models but will eventually replace the 250P with a BBR version. Just be careful if you get a chance to purchase a CMC Mercedes 300SL - most are badly damaged and prone to zinc pest.

Yeah…it is true that most of the really good diecast cars worth a fortune now !!! The only diecast cars I would go for are probably exoto and CMC but only if I found a really good deal since their prices have skyrocketed !!!
