There is something about a scale model of cars you see every day and lately my collection is leaning toward cars like these. Recently I added another daily driver to the collection: A 2014 Honda Civic Si Sedan. I like this 4-door Civic because it's 'Plain Jane' enough but at the same time, the Si version does add a fair amount of sportiness. This is the facelifted FB 2014 version (9th generation).
This is the China Dealer Promo edition, but I don't know exactly which manufacturer makes it. I had the Paudi's 8th-gen civic (FD) and compared to the older Paudi, this newer Civic Si has much improved QC and build quality. This car is very heavy with metal chassis / floor. As a matter of fact, there isn't really any defect or fault with it! A rarity among the China edition models. It's a bit expensive at $130 shipped, but overall I'm happy with the car.
One thing I really want is to replace the wheels with either BBS or Advan, but that won't happen for a while, so for now I just lowered the car a little bit.
Things I like:
• Nice paint job and proportion.
• Lots of nice details as moonroof that can be tilted or gas fill cover than can be opened.
• Easy to lower (suspension is like Maisto).
• Detailed engine and interior.
• Good QC (much better than Paudi's old Civic FD)
Thing I don't like:
• Wrong dashboard. The dashboard is the pre-facelift FB but the body is facelifted FB.
• Wrong color interior decal. The decals are blue which are for non-Si Civics. So I had to reprint the decals and replace them with the red version.
• Wheels are 1 size to small. The wheels measured 15/16 inches or if you scale it to 18x, they're just under 17" and the real Si has 18" wheels.
• When I got it, the paint on the hood is little dull. I buffed it with fine compound then waxed it and fortunately it turns out good! But interestingly, this car is painted with Enamel and no clear coat (buffing it will 'eat' the paint, so buff lightly!).
• Wobbly wheels (again, like Maisto)
• Stock ride height is way too high
• Limited color choice
•

If you have $25K-27K, which would you choose for a daily driver?
