Well, I've been holding this one for months, as I wanted to pull my previous gen out of cold storage for some side by shots comparisons with both of them together.

So, this current gen Hyundai Tucson took a while for me to get used to. One of our neighbors had one upon release fast! So, I got acclimated to its extreme 180 looks compared to the previously conservative looks (which our other neighbor also has). What's interesting is that one set of neighbors bought theirs about a year ago and the next set bought their 2021 upon release. I usually research things like that prior to a new car. Ironically, about a year ago we got a 2020 Kia Sportage GT AWD (Also a platform twin), but the 2022 Sportage is "fugly" IMO. So, I don't feel so bad for us adding the outgoing model as a second car.

Paudi Model always hits their models outta' the ball park. This time with the Tucson, it's no different. The model is done to a really high standard with many functional features and excellent detailing. It matches are exceeds my 2020 Hyundai Sonata by Paudi. The only weak area that I can find is the engine bay, just like my Sonata's. Other than that, every other part is on point when it comes to detailing or functional.
Of course, the model comes stacked with working features such as sliding/opening panoramic roof, sliding and folding seats (front/rear), folding side mirrors, working suspension, opening hood, rear hatch, all four opening doors, fuel door, plus a really intricately detailed chassis and suspension set up (front/rear). Details like dual finished wheels, excellent paint finish, jewel like front and rear lighting, P.E. badging with realistically detailed interior graphics and accents round out a well-balanced model.

I highly recommend this model if you're interested in modern SUVs/Crossovers, but, also Korean branded vehicles. I'm glad that someone thought that this model was important enough to do a 1/18th promotional in China, otherwise, us collectors would never have a model like this on offer.

Yeah, the Chinese are really on it with recreating the details at scale! 👏 You certainly will be pleased with this model if you are interested in adding one. It's a good model and very affordable pricing at that.😊 Cheers!🥂

Awesome comparison and review there Dave! 😃
As you know the old Tucson is my favorite SUV diecast at any price, it is so well done. And from the looks of things, the newer generation 1:18 continue that tradition.
The new Tucson design is very different that the old one and will take some times to get used to, but I think it will age well. The rear tail lights reminded me of the Mustang Mach-E.

So the new Tucson is designated as "Tucson L", does the Chinese market car has a longer wheel base than the North American version?

Thanks Stefanus! Glad that you liked my little review here. 😊
Yes, teh last gen Tucson model is AMAZING, still today. It really set a high standard for a lot of models to be judged against. I feel really grateful to have one in my collection.

Yeah, the new design was very polarizing for a lot of people, including some other car designers that I know. However, that is why I LOVED working for Hyundai/Kia design 15 plus years ago more than any other company.....FREEDOM! Glad to see that they still allow their designers to think outside of the box👏

Actually the reason that the CDM version is called "L" is because it's the same wheelbase as the Tucson sold in N.America. Europe gets a shorter one, if I read that correctly somewhere. 🥂
