Here's the car from dad's recent (and forgettable) episode with Canadian postage. It's our 1:18 first rally car since I sold my old Sunstar Pug 307 several years ago. With more Possum Bourne cars apparently in the production pipeline, and with Hayden Paddon going from strength to strength, this could be the start of something big

To be blunt, I don't know much about the car. I remember owning a 1:24 Bburago version of it years and years ago, and I remember also being a Sainz fan during the Corolla days. But either way, the model is still a striking one. No engine shots in the album sadly, as the bonnet doesn't want to open (my theory is that it's never been open before. I'm often wrong though

Anyway, pictures. Enjoy

Beautiful photos - you could not have picked a better background! The car itself looks mint. This must not have been cheap.

Unfortunately not much to note about this car other than it was the 3rd place car from the 1997 RAC Rally. As for the bonnet, I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to open.

Don't know anything about the car, but I agree with Douglas - your photographic setting of the model is perfect (and beautiful colours) IMHO - lovely pics!

Nice shots, you look to have a mint one there, rare on this model as the wheels usualy have the UT problem, plus the orange on the car fades & the sunstrip decals crack in the corners.

The bonnet doesn't open, it only opens in the number 7 & 8 cars.

Thanks for the comments guys

It's good to get a car with a bit of orange in it for once - since I can finally use mums marigolds for something other than lawn-mower target practice

dbonser, IMO the car wasn't too badly priced at a bit under $90USD. I realize it's a lot of money for what it is, but considering what UT's most expensive models sell for, it could be worse

Yep 90$ is a steal, here that would sell for about ÂŁ100. I guess it's because most in the UK love fast Fords.

That is a beautiful model Matt. I always meant to get that to go with my UT 1998 Monte Carlo Bruno Thiry car, but it never happened. back in my early diecast collecting days I thought diecast releases would be around forever like a normal product line. I was quickly disabused of that and so cars like the Sainz Repsol Escort WRC were never obtained. Now they are well out of my price range. For $90 you did extremely well.

Keep looking you might get lucky, I've had a few of them which I've sold for big money, the Bruno Thiry car you mention is rarer & fetches a lot of money, it took me years to get hold of that one, then I had to get the Kankunen / Repo car to complete. One day I'll get them all of storage for a photo shoot.

It's a big shame that the bonnet doesn't open - it does on the Ford liveried number 7 & 8 cars though, the detail is pretty good!

Yeah that one, I just know it has a big Ford decal down the side lol (I have them but forget what they look like)
