I've never paid their list price for any of their models, I never will. You won't get them cheap either.

 

Price of the Exoto models is always a mess to me. On the one hand, there are all sorts of discount on Exoto's own web outlet while on the other hand, ebay prices are much higher in contrast to Exoto's own discount. If you wait long enough, their top of the line XS series will drop at least $200 off their list price during holiday times. Exoto also charges the same amount of shipping cost for each model no matter how many you ordered in one go.

 

I should have been more specific....models not sold by exoto. Second hand Jager sets used to sell for $1300 now they go unsold.

 

Jager sets NEW were selling for about £450 - £500 not that long ago - then all of a sudden people started asking double that!!! It's rare to see one sell for a grand. One from GTO288TW on ebay sold last week, that was on special @ 50% off - it was still $959 (£595)

I've been watching the prices for ages now as I really want one! There is one in the UK for a bit over £400 but it's a lot of money right now!

 

What is their starting price on the auction? If it starts really high then it's much more likely to not receive any bids. If you start low and get some guys going after it then it could end up pretty high.

 

There are pages of exotos on ebay with zero bids.

 

So what is the reason for your question? Are you looking to sell a set?

If they're not selling then it sounds like an ideal situation for a collector.

I also don't get your question. Exotos are massed produced just like most other diecast. Granted, their detail, fit and finish are above others, but they are still mass produced. Had they not been kicked of China, they would be enjoying the cheaper labor as others.
If "loosing ground" means loosing value to you, I would argue that Exotos have never had it as they themselves sell them for 30% of their MSRP. I have several Exotos and have never paid more than 25 cents on the dollar for them. Yes, some special liveries go for more money as dictated by supply/demand and favorability, yet the same model with another livery goes unsold for $98.

The 312t2 seems overinflated at the moment. As for the others, some like the gt40 and re-20 are actually very well priced on ebay for what you get in relation to the asking price for more modern models
