80s hatchbacks from Europe

Three big sellers across Europe in the 80s. Thought it would be good to put them together.

The Renault 5 is obviously a design from late 60s ahead of sale in the 70s and into the early 80s. The Corsa - a late 70s design - is a bridge between the R5 and the Fiat Uno. To my eyes, the Uno looks the most modern even though it was probably signed off at the same time as the Corsa.

Of course, I have a little connection with each of these cars ;-) we had a R5 Gordini Turbo when I was a kid. It was mentally quick after we had it modded, and had a deep, deep exhaust note like a V8.

My first car was a Jamaica yellow Corsa/Nova SR - exactly like the diecast, bar the extra driving lights which we didn’t get here; but mine had the headlamp Washers set into bumper over riders.

Then I had use of an Uno Turbo while the Nova was being repaired after being constantly broken into. I think I replaced door locks more often than bulbs on that car :) But at least I had the Uno Turbo to hoon about in :)

Nice cars… and a lot of happy memories:)

The last gen Uno was made in India upto the early 2000s. We almost got it when it was launched in the late 90s but we're discouraged by the high selling price and poor service. One of my neighbor's had it till about the mid 2000s. It was a solid car when it lasted.
I had a HW of the Renault 5 in green. It came free with a pack of Maggi noodles with the Maggi logo emblazoned on the bonnet.

Great stuff! If they make a Fiat Uno Turbo i.e you'll have to get one, so you have a three hot hatch line up. The Uno Turbo wasn't very common, but a few people had them. They are pretty cool!:)

Most certainly haha when you realised that most of your hero cars while growing up are now qualified for "classic" or "vintage" concession at your DMV.

I forgot that this was for 80's only when lining these up (all 1/24th scale)
Those 1/24 lineup look sweeet! The red Alfa does look like it has put on a bit of weight compares to other slim hatchbacks LOL

Never really thought about the R4 to be honest, Slart. I guess a hatchback is defined more by the shape of its rear than where the door is hinged. Who makes the Giulietta? And have you lowered the Golf a bit? Nice line up (y)

The Alfa was originally part of the Quattruote Alfa Romeo 100 collection, and was then released by bBurago (same model).
The golf was lowered, when I was working on a repair of some sort (I think one of the doors was loose).
